Please help Please help my yorkie is 2 years old she will be 3 this upcoming January. I recently noticed she has scabs and little small open blood spots all over her from head to toe. I haven't noticed any fleas or ticks on her and I give her k-9 advantage. She's always so itchy lately like non stop itching. I don't know what this could be I'm getting so nervous and worried. She also has small black spots on her stomach and I noticed some clear/black colored bumps. |
I hope by now you have taken this baby to your vet. Open blood spots can be bites from flies or other insects. Please keep us posted on what your vet has found. |
It sounds like allergies and a skin infection. You need to get her to the vet. |
Agree with the above. This is a visit to the vet ASAP! |
:welcome4: :yorkietal So glad you joined our growing family of Yorkie lovers I agree, a vet visit is definitely in order. |
This is likely pyoderma, which is a common skin infection - secondary to environmental allergies. You *need* to take your kiddo to a vet ASAP as the only way to get rid of pyoderma is with a prescription antibiotic. The vet will need to do a simple, cheap skin scraping and look at under the microscrope to confirm it's pyoderma (staph intermedius). From there, you need to figure out if the allergies are year round or seasonal. If year round - then you'd want to treat w/ either Apoquel or Atopica or Cytopoint.
