New Baby with a question Hi to you all New to the group and new to Yorkieship I am a mom of a 5 year old female Maltese and decided to give her a baby sister, named Penny. Penny joined LaCie in a small town in Minnesnowta. Penny is 12 weeks and weighs 2 pounds, LaCie is 5 and 8 pounds. Things seem to be going along pretty well, but my one concern is that Penny seems very aggressive and quite (mean?). She is always biting, chewing, attacking everything and everyone. Forgot to add that we also have a huge Siamese cat, Uber. Question is will she grow out of this and what can I do to help curb her aggression? Sorry so long, will post more and pics later. Rin |
Puppies don't really have an understanding of personal space and want to be in everything so that is probably what is going on. Puppies don't know what is right or wrong you have to teach them. |
This is normal puppy behavior, she is experiencing life. It is up to you to train hard biting is not acceptable. When she is in hard attack mode, distract her with a toy that she can bite on, then praise her when she takes it. Consistency in correction is a must and the entire family must get evolved with it. This must be corrected now when she is still young. Make sure she has lots of teething toys for her to bite on, and remember lots of praise and treats when he plays and bites her toys. |
Yup, sounds like a Terrier alright! It is normal for the first couple of months. Don't worry too much as the other animals will teach what is acceptable and what the limits are. |
