How big is she going to be ? my first yorkie is 4 years old and he was supposed to be no more than 6 lbs, yeah that never happened lol he is 12 lbs, pretty big for the "standard" size, people have told me that he might not be pure breed because he is "too" big but he looks exactly how a yorkie is supported to look just bigger, he is the cutest thing, now 2 months ago I got another yorkie, she is a female and in one week she will be 5 month, my new baby girl at almost 5 months only weights 2.9 lbs, so can someone with more experience with small yorkies can give me an idea of how "big" she should be when fully grown? Thank you !! |
Welcome! I'm not good at guessing the size, but there are some folks with some larger Yorkies and some small ones here! There are also some breeders who might help you with the size prediction! Since you have a boy and a girl are you thinking about breeding them? Be careful with that -- lots of unfortunate oopsies have happened:eek: Do you have any pictures? We love pics:D |

There are bigger full bred Yorkie's. If he has AKC papers he is pure. It is just a guess on size and a lot of it is passed on through genetics. Your breeder should be able to have a good idea about size. What did she say? |
Loved your pics! Aren't they darling! |
Soooooo cute! |
My little girl just turned five months old yesterday. As of about a week ago she weighed five and a half pounds. I would think yours would be on the smaller size but only time will tell. Good luck.:) |
Welcome to YT, your babies are just adorable, sorry no guess on her final weight. All my yorkies have been over standard weight, one was 9 pounds, 2 were 13 and my last girl was 17 pounds, all AKC registered. My adopted boy weighs 12 pounds, there are lots of pure bred yorkies over the standard 5 pounds. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! Your little ones are precious. Although I love 'em all, there are specifics regarding the conformation/weight of Yorkies. AKC is generally recognized as the leading registry of purebred dogs and according to AKC yorkies are to weigh no more than 7 pounds. That does NOT mean that yorkies weighing over 7 lbs. are not purebred - it simply means that they do not meet the standard set forth by AKC for conformation shows. You would be surprised (or not) to learn just how many 6.9 lb. yorkies  that are successful on the show circuit. It is hard to accurately chart adult yorkie weight unless you know the genetics behind the dogs, however once a yorkie reaches around 6 months of age, their growth rate generally slows - not always, but generally. There are many sites you can go to that provide yorkie growth charting - but remember this are only guidelines. If you Google Yorkie Growth Chart you will be bombarded with hits. With all of that said, your sweet baby girl is basically 20 weeks and at 2.9 lbs. (2 lbs. 14.4 oz) she is charting just under 4 lbs. |
