Adult training I have a 6, soon to be 7 year old little girl. She weighs 5 lbs and BARKS continuously at anyone that comes into my house. I cannot visit with a friend, neighbor or have repair men in the house. I have to take her to day care or put her outside to bark so I can hear my visitor. She jumps at their feet but has not bitten anyone. I've had her nearly two years. I live alone and I think she feels threatened by someone else in her territory. Is it too late to take her to training for this? Does the training at PetSmart help with adult yorkies that will not stop barking at others? Also, when I leave to go out of town and someone comes in house to feed her; she hides under table and will not go out or does not bark at them. So confused with this behavior. |
I don't know if Petsmart will provide the behavior training you need but it can't hurt to call around for a few trainers in your area. A quick google search should help with any in your area. |
You might be better off for this trying to find a private trainer or behavioralist. |
I agree that a private trainer coming to your house is probably the best answer for you. Mine bark when people come in but within 2 mins they have all stopped. It is annoying for 2 mins, but after that they do not bark (only 2 of my dogs bark, the other 2 do not). The only thing I can suggest is to spray her with water when she barks and see if that makes her stop, but a trainer will have more things to try. Good luck. |
Thank you for suggestions. I will research private trainers. |
