Brought home Rescue Please Help Hi Yorkie moms it's been a long time since I've been active in this thread. I recently lost my lil peanut Sophie after almost 13 years. To say I was devastated is an understatement. Well my other dog Rambo went into a very deep depression after 10yrs being her shadow. In a month he lost over a pound. I just happened to be browsing the local shelter and came across this w lil sweetly who wasn't very well taken care. She was very sick with parvo and almost didn't make it. Well it's been almost 10 years since I had a puppy and I remember the others being curious but happy. She seems to be very skittish and doesn't want to eat. The not eating concerns me as she is very skinny. What can I do to make her transition better? I want to give her a wonderful life and home. |
Oh God Bless you. This little pup will come around soon. Sometimes it just takes time to form a bond but it will happen. Just keep doing what you're doing. Pup will start eating soon. Leave kibble out for the poor little thing and eventually all good things will happen:):aimeeyork:thumbup: |
Lots of time and patience. What food do you have her on now? Some really picky yorkies like Royal Canin Yorkshire terrier. You can soak wet food in hot water to make it soft and more tasty. You can also mix wet and dry together. Mix some boiled chicken in with her food or even sprinkle some parmesan cheese on the food. |
Thank you for rescuing, you can sprinkle some parmesan cheese over her food. Enjoy your new baby girl. |
3 Attachment(s) Thanks everyone for your feedback we currently have royal canin dry food but for seniors since Rambo is just about to turn 10. Tomorrow I will pick up some wet puppy version of the same brand. Here are some pics of our new addition. Attachment 411718 Attachment 411719 Attachment 411720 |

Oh, where to start. First let me sat God Bless You ! for saving this poor little one. Since she had Parvo she probably still has some damage to her intestines that need to heal so I would start with some PreBiotics AND ProBiotics to help her little tummy out. Maybe some boiled chicken mixed in with some puppy food too. Second, I am sad to hear your little girl has passed on to the Rainbow Bridge, R.I.P sweet baby girl. Third, your little man is adjusting to this new little girl ? I hope . I am sure that with a bit more time they will be the best of friends. You might want to give that little guy some boiled chicken too, if for no other reason then to give him something fun & yummy to look forward to. |
What a little cutie, I am so happy you found her. She will have a wonderful life with you and her big brother. |

Thank you all for the words of advice. Her appetite is getting better and her tail is actually wagging. It's been inbetween her legs for past two days. I've been giving her a touch of yogurt to help line her little intestines to help her food digest. Baby steps 😊 |

They are both adorable! Congratulations! |

Other tips: sprinkle Parmesan cheese powder on food, use some low-salt beef/chicken broth on food. Get canned food and add to kibble. How are her poos - are they formed and everything? |
