I'm Back Hey everyone! It has been almost a year since I was on here. So much has changed in my life! So, Teek is now 11 1/2 years old, I have had the pleasure of him being in my life for 2 1/2 years now. Rowan is 2 1/2 years old and is my very special buddy. He is a trick dog who has a bunch of tricks under his belt and he loves to show them off for people whenever he can. He adores going to Lowe's and all the cashiers there know him by name and I get yelled at by them if I don't bring him in with me. He is the light of my life for sure. Tomorrow I will be picking up a Parti Yorkie who needed a home so we decided to take her in. A friend of a friend owned her so I was asked by my friend if I would consider taking her in. She is 6 years old and I can't wait to meet her! She is coming from a few states away so a friend of mine (who asked me if I would take her) is driving halfway tomorrow with her to get her to me. Long story short, the lady who owns her has to care for a family member and move in with them for at least a year, maybe longer and they can't have dogs there and she was crying because she didn't want to get rid of her, but is thankful that a good home was found where she will be spoiled. I already have dresses on order for her. Too many males around here already. Raksha (my daughter's puppy and Rowan's brother) lives with my grown daughter in another state. We see her regularly, but she no longer lives with us. Just a quick update on my pups. I started a full time job about a year ago and so most of my free time is taken up with spending time with Teek and Rowan (and soon Ginger). Glad to be back and will try to stay in touch on here better :) Jade D :yorkiej: :aimeeyork :biewer: Rowan, Teek, Ginger |

Forgot to mention that Rowan is a hefty 10 lbs and he is wonderful! Teek has always been 7lbs. I also recently was informed that my suspicions are correct and he has a problem with his knees. The vet said he has lived with it this long and it is only mild, so he will just live with it. He needs help getting down the steps now and is showing his age. Ginger Raelyn is about 6 lbs has seizures and I have been briefed by a vet on what to do, she is on medication for it and we will be monitoring her to try to keep her seizure free. She is a parti Yorkie and looks to be adorable. Raksha is as wild as ever and just adores my daughter. We saw them last week and they are doing well. |
Welcome back Jade! Aren't yorkies the best! Sounds like you have a wonderful yorkie tribe! :aimeeyork:animal-pa |
1 Attachment(s) So very good to have you back and to hear your wonderful updates. It sounds like you have very full, lively, and loving home. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your soon-to-arrive little girl---in all her frilly finery, of course!! Piper doesn't have dresses, but I think she can rock a sweater... |
Welcome back Jade, looking forward to seeing your new baby girl. |
My little boy is a trick dog it's fun. Do you know about Do More With Your dog? You can earn certificates. The AKC has one to and they don't have to have papers from the AKC to do it. |
I have not looked into certificates. I have done most of his training myself. Here is a list of what he can do, and I will of course forget something.... SIT DOWN STAND on hind legs Stand on hind legs and REACH front paws in air Stand on hind legs and TURN in a circle Stand on hind legs and WALK CRAWL Crawl UNDER an object JUMP through a hula hoop IN- He stands IN the hula hoop when it is laid on the floor Jump OVER an object SPIN in a circle- actually 3 circles quickly (on all 4 legs) BEG (Sit, and then paws up in the air) PAW (just lift one front paw up as if it is hurt, not a shake) Take a BITE (he will take a bite of the treat but not the entire thing) Stool (he gets on a stool) He can beg and sit on stool as well. Take a BOW I know I missed something he can do as I can never remember all his tricks. We are working on others but he hasn't grasped them yet to be added to his list. The all cap words are his command words, so those are words he knows and does the trick with. He is such a fun trick dog. He loves to show off his tricks. We are working on him jumping onto my leg while I am kneeling, but he doesn't quite have it. Also to jump onto my back when I am on all 4's. We have plans to build him a few things in the backyard like a ramp, jump, Weave poles etc just to have fun. When it cools off this fall we plan to get them built, we got the fence up this spring so the dogs can be off leash out there and enjoy the outdoors. I come home for lunch every day and I eat outside when it isn't quite this hot (92 today) so they can spend time outside. Right now they would rather be in the AC and just go out and potty and come back in. |
We picked up the new baby today. We plan to call her Raelyn. She is smaller than I was told, but that is okay. I was told she was 8 lbs. I will have to put her on a scale but she is smaller than Teek who weighs 7 lbs so I am suspecting she is 6 lbs. She is very sweet and my dogs accepted her instantly. She acts like she has always lived here. She does have seizures and came with seizure medicine but has an appointment with my vet already and I have already talked to them about her. I think she is going to be a nice addition to the family and will have a place to live out all her remaining years. She has never been on a leash and harness so I will have to work with her on that. Right now I have to take her out harnessed up and carry her out to where I want her to potty and then set her down. The other dogs walk. Then when she is done I have to pick her up and take her back in. I think some one on one time will be good and she will learn and then add in another dog with her and then be able to take all of them out after some practice with her. For now though this will work as this morning everyone had to pee so they all needed to go out. In the afternoons we go out in the fence but it is too wet in the morning to get back there. |
So happy to see you back, i have been missing to for a month visiting my DD in Va...i know this will be a happy little girl with you |
