For those who use a mobile groomer...
 
Do you tip on top of the regular charge? I read somewhere that you shouldn't tip a business owner in regards to hair stylists and such. Just wondering, don't want to make a faux pas. The charge is already more than she's ever paid befor($75! Last groomer charged $50. Asking for my mom and her Lhasa poo) Thanks for the help! :animal-pa

I tip. I really like our mobile groomer she is awesome. My youngest is also a pain to bathe and groom because she isn't used to it and we didn't rescue her until 8 months so it's slow going. I also want to keep the people who have my dogs in a good mood lol.

I tip for every service that is provided to me. So yes I tip our mobile groomer.

Yes!! Also it's a myth that the business owner is raking in the dough - my mom owns a salon - it's not true!! lol. Much of your money goes right back into the biz. Tips are VERY much welcome & appreciated.

My mobile groomer is amazing and I pay $55 (but I know she raised her prices for newer clients so I usually tip an extra $15-$20).

Yes I tip her...she comes to my house so that alone is worth the extra charge. She spent 3 hours on Ava & Emma last time to get them just right. No regular groomer would do that. They shave and shove them out the door! Love my mobile groomer! Max and the girls do too!

Yes we have 2 that we pay $50 ea.and tip $10 ea. The convinance of not running back and forth to a groomers salon makes the tip well worth it!!

There's a great article on dog clippers for dogs and it looked fairly easy and wanted to see what other peoples opinions were on it.

I actually bought a grooming DVD and all the stuff but it was very hard and I have the perfect dog to try things on. In my opinion yorkies are much harder then other breeds and you can't just shave their face you actually have to use scissors on it.

I really wish I could lol. Jackson is a nervous mess at the groomers even the mobile one who we love (it makes it way easier having a mobile than dropping him off though). But, my heart breaks for how anxious he gets. That is just his personality. He's like that at the vets too and with thunderstorms and fireworks etc. But if I could do it myself, it'd be easier on him but I'm AWFUL at grooming. He probably feeds off my anxiety... I'm too nervous to cut his nails etc. So I opt for a professional who knows what the hell they are doing :p And I love the way she cuts him, I get so many compliments on his haircut.

We groom our 2 boys ourselves. Started when they were around 6 months so they are used to it at 1.5 years old. In the begining it would require one of us to hold and one to cut but now we can do it alone since they are used to it. It requires a lot of time and patients but well worth it not to pay $100+ every month or two.

I went to a groomer once. Didn't like the way it come out so I bought the supplies myself and now I do all the furbabies. Worked great for us.

I've groomed my past dog and currently groom my two Yorkies myself - have always only used scissors. I personally enjoy it as it's a great bonding time for us. I believe they enjoy it too, because I tell them mommy's making them pretty and beautiful, and they sit really still. :D
