Yorkie teeth
 
Hey everyone im new here!
i have a male yorkie, he's 2,5 years old. He has double teeth up and down and they must be removed. Is it possible to avoid general anesthesia? Do you have any similiar experiences? I asked my vet and said he can do it just with general anesthesia. Also, what do you think about sterilization? Thanks a lot :)

He needs to be under anesthesia and I would get him neutered at the same time.

Thats what my vet recommended as well. Im kind of afraid of anesthesia because he is so little and ive heard that in some ocassions dogs dont wake up. I know it doesnt happen all the time but i stress about it. Thank you for your reply :)

There is always a concern, but the safe odds are in your favor. I have brother and sister Yorkies. They both had baby teeth that did not dissolve and had to be removed. Our vet spayed/neutered at the same time of the extractions. All went well! Your vet is doing the best for your baby!

Our pup had double teeth removed and it was such a positive experience. She was very young and tiny but the double rows were preventing her from eating well and causing pain. She hardly knew anything had happened, except her mouth felt better and she did well with the anesthesia. We couldn't spay her at the same time so she had to have that done separately and subsequently had to have her microchip removed due to an adverse reaction. She has done well each time. The important thing is to follow post anesthesia instructions regarding water and food that the vet should give you. And soften his kibble a bit with warm water for a day or two while his gums heal. Hope your little guy does well and enjoys his new smile :D

As long as you get pre surgery blood work anesthesia is pretty safe.

Thanks for your reply, its very helpfull :D Well, my baby doesnt feel pain or anything like that but he has a baaad breath lately and the vet said we should get it done so that none of his teeth will be affected... he also said we can do both surgeries at the same time. At least this makes me feel a bit calmer and better.
