Yes. They just want loves and approval. This is the best thing you can do, for sure! Check your local trainers. A good one will have a specific class for this very thing- it will say in the description.

Might just enroll the him and the puppy do both can work together I thought he was too old for training.

Well Royal Canin Yorkshire terrier gets most to eat. You might have to boil a little bit of chicken and mix it into his food.

Dogs are never to old to learn. My 10 year old still learns new tricks.

The ppl that had him probably feed him table food, that's why he's been looking for it. Try sprinkling some grated Parmesan cheese over his food, that usually will perk up a dogs appetite. Such a shame that the one that had him will not tell you what she was feeding him. Yorkies are finicky eaters to start off with. If he will not eat food with the Parmesan cheese on it, just to get him to eat something, boil some boneless chicken cutlets , boil some white rice when rice is cooked, shred the chicken in the rice, mix it up. This is not long term feeding as there are no nutrients in chicken and rice, all you want to do is to get him to eat something. In most rescue cases dogs will not eat in a new environment until the feel safe and start to form a bond. He may not like the kibble you are feeding him. Sometimes Pet Supplies have sample bags of food, you can get a few of those and off that to him and see if he likes it. Pet supplies, Pet Smart will take back open bag of food if you buy some and the dog will not eat it. When I got my 2 1/2 yo rescue boy I started him on grain free Natural Balance kibble, thankfully he is not a fussy eater, and he bonded with me insistently. My boy is now Wellness Core grain free, he loves it,nut he's not fussy.

Keep in mind, you left a 1 1/2 year old puppy, he has matured over this time and is a calmer dog, you missed out on his puppy hood, then he was used as a stud, that will mature him even more. Now he is taken away from a family that he was with for 1 1/2 years, and has rejoined you, and gained a BIG playful puppy sister, a LOT of changes for a dog to go through in a short time. He needs time to adjust. He will be less aggressive after he is neutered. For now I would keep away from playful puppy, he is still in the adjust stage. Give him a safe place where he can get away from playful puppy, let him make friends with her on his time, his terms, do not force a friendship between then. When he is ready he will make the first move. I would think the vet would want him to have all the vaccines he has missed before he is neutered, but you should ask your vet that question. Since he is not eating you should have Nutri-Cal on hand give him a dab just to keep is sugar level up. Since he is cuddling and follow you this is a good sign.

You said he was trained when you left him with your friend, I am not sure what kind of training that was. If it was basic commands, sit, stay, leave it, drop it, he can be re-taught, these commands he has not forgotten,he just needs refreshing. Start working on these commands even if these were not taught to him. Take him to a room where there is just you and Cash with no distractions, have some boiled chicken as rewards, Cheerios is also a great training reward for when he does a command, treat and happy praise. Working on training helps rebuild that trust and bond. Training periods should be no longer the 5 to 7 minutes throughout the day. Train one command first, when he gets that down pat then move on to another command, when he knows the 2nd command incorporate the two together, then move on to the 3rd command.

My boy was 3 yo when I started command and trick training him, the same age as Cash is. So do not think Cash is to old to learn commands, or other training. My boy is now 6 yo and I am still teaching new commands. Yorkies are very smart and eager to please. Remember only 5 to7 minutes through out the day training.

Every night at 8PM is treat time in my house, I have my boy go through ALL his commands and tricks before he gets that one treat.

hey the cheese worked thanks I literally only sprinkled a tiny bit and he ate the dry food. Super happy he had me worried about him not eating. Thanks for your great tip

I would get him a dental when you get him neutered. It's important to get that done because bad plaque can cause teeth to loosen and need to be pulled. Bad teeth can also cause organ and heart issues. It also can hurt to eat and such. Mine eat dry food and get a tiny bit of boiled chicken.

Give him time and space and he'll learn to trust you again. I'd allow him to make all the overtures except during training and heart-felt, genuine praise for doing whatever you ask of him until he's fully acting himself with you again. He might remember that in his mind you abandoned him, as dogs tend to think we cause everything that happens and right now, he's likely uncertain now to whom he should give his forever trust and loyalty. One day before too long if you bring him along with love and patience, you'll likely see the old him come out again when he's ready. Dogs rarely basically change their true nature but can hide it darn well should they feel the need. Now that you want him with you again, it's your job to help him feel safe and secure without overwhelming him. Just take it slow and allow him all the time he needs to show you he's still in there. He will.

The petco bet get these green treats shape like tooth brushes and that little dogs teeth just get bad. But I don't think they should be so brown this soon at 3 yrs old I'm going to a actual animal hospital tomorrow instead of petco because like you said in the long run it will cause more problems I will have to pay for

I just been letting him get use to my new place as we lived some where else when I had him. Like everyone on here has been telling me time is key. Each day I see he gets a little better . and yeah true if I got stuck at a friends house I would feel abandon too. And plus wad with his 2 puppies so maybe he misses his kids too. I've been taking him Every where with me so he doesn't feel alone I hope that works. What's crazy the person I gave him to I was going to let them have him but after I heard how they couldn't even get his shots which arent even expensive and plan to just keep mating him for money I'm like nope give him back. Now they are trying to buy him from me smh. I feel they should be happy they got his 2 puppies and to just leave us be. Trying to make me feel guilty for taking him back.

I think you are underestimating the damage that was done to my puppies. We have had them one year on the 20th of this month. At first they were terrified of us and panicked when we tried to get close to them. They are just now, within the past 2 or 3 weeks, letting us pick them up, after a year and a lot of patience. They will obey when we tell them to stop and sit but they cower down reluctantly and let us pick them up. They are still learning to trust us. I am thinking it might be a little easier on your pup since he already knows you and probably remembers you. It will take time to adjust to his new life though, no doubt. I hope you have happy results like we have! Best wishes!

Shame that someone could make your sweet fur babies like that. People can be so cruel. And thanks for the encouragement keep it up on your end as well they are lucky to have ended up with you , you seem very patience and that's really rare these days

It is probably just bad teeth genetics. When the plaque hardens generally chews wind get it off and it needs to be done by a vet. It sounds like your poor little guy needed to get back to you so you could give him the care he needs.

Thank you! We don't have any idea what the first 7 months of these babies lives we we like. I am happy that they have always been together and they are bonded. They are just now starting to be ok in different rooms of the house. It's sad how cruel ppl can be to animals.
