I'm new Hi -my name is D and this is my first post. I have a 12 year old yorkie named Isabella, she is my baby! She has recently developed a cough and does a lot of hacking-i am told it may be the start of trachea collapse. My question-has anybody had the surgery done and what is the approximate cost? |
Welcome! The surgery is still experimental and I personally wouldn't do it. Have you tried medication? My moms yorkie had it pretty bad and they put him on hydrocodone and it worked great. |
I think there are several folks on YT who have had this and some who have had surgery. Hopefully, one of them will weigh in on this. Glad you found YT!! WELCOME!! |
Thank U Thank u for the welcome-I haven't tried anything yet-it just started and not sure I can afford a trip to the vet-it usually costs around $200 just to be seen. |

Does she get yearly blood work and a yearly check up? |
Coughing in older dogs can mean so much not just necessarily collapsing trachea so you really need to go in to the vet. |
I am going to take her-I was just wondering if anyone on here had the surgery. |
Coughing in a dog this age could also be heart failure - so you REALLY DO need to get her to a vet. You don't want her suffocating/drowning from fluids in her lungs...do you...? |
Hello and welcome to YT :) |
