Rock stealer Well something have learn is with each new pup there will be something new the choose to get into. We have lattice on the bottom of our deck so that the dogs cannot go under the deck because goddess knows what's under there. In front of the lattice we have rocks to try and keep down on the weeds. Well Penny is now stealing these rocks. I cannot just pick up the rocks. Is there anything I can do to keep her from the rocks? |
2 Attachment(s) My last girl Matese as a puppy did the same thing. At that time I was not a homeowner but did go camping every week end that's when she had to be watched like a hawk. She did grow out of it but also lost several teeth due to chewing rocks. Can you buy that fake green grass, they also sell it in brown, it comes in I "think" 6x8, Home Depot and Lowes sell it. Can you cover the rock area with this carpet, the carpet can be cut to the size or sizes you need and can be tacked to the ground with landscaping anchor pins. You can remove the carpeting when she out grows the rock eating stage. |
Could you spray the rocks with bitter apple or something like that? It would have to be redone every now and then, but once you stop the habit it may help. We had a German Shepherd who swallowed rocks, big ones, it cause a lot of problems and pain. So needs to be watched. In the end we had to use a muzzle, when out for walks, to stop this. Even while walking, she'd scoop a rock up and swallow. Some 4" long. |
It's very rainy to day so can't do much. I may try the easiest thing first which would be to spray them but I have to wait until it's dry out. |

We figured out the issue, she actually dug a hole under the lattice and was pulling out rocks from under the deck. My dad put pavers down. Seems to be working so far. |

Buy cougar urine. You can get it at most garden stores. It should prevent him from wanting to go near them. Though there is an odor when you first put it down, it does go away and only animals will be able to smell it. |
