I did some reading and found out that the Korean government plans to expand puppy mills to boost their economy...to "grow the pet industry more than three times by 2020. The plan means the government will provide financial incentives to those who open new puppy mills.":

What a helpless world we live in, when a government condones and encourages animal cruelty...for money.
This may sound mean but I suddenly am starting to like korea's government less and less and the people who do breed dogs just to make a profit instead of the betterment of the breed as a whole should be ashamed of themselves.

If the government is so unscrupulous that way that kind of leaves to say about the people supporting it... To take advantage of one life in such a way saddens me.

Sad. But not surprised one bit. To most humans, animals are "just animals".

As far as government condoning animal cruelty...sigh...ever heard of the Yulin Dog Festival? I've been posting about that for years, and I think it's only finally starting to gain traction as far as effective activism. At Yulin, dog TORTURE is encouraged bc the believers think it makes the "meat more tender" to eat :(:(:(. I'm not kidding one bit.

Funny that you should post this right as I was commenting to the other thread condoning Korea shipping puppies to the US...

It really makes me sick that people get so upset when you try to EDUCATE them for the good of the animals they claim to love. Hopefully, by you sharing this, you will open the eyes of those people who contribute to the greediness of puppy mills no matter what country they are in ..

:l that... that's extremely disgusting. This should be a capital crime and people should be punished severely for it. Eating an animal is one thing, I don't like the idea of dogs being eaten, but it's extremely horrible when they torture it prior...

That's just people being people.. I don't even know where to start, but I think it's rather selfish and disgusting to be supporting that kind of thing... But hey, who am I to judge?

Ah it really is things like this that make me so angry and feelings of complete helplessness.. I just don't understand where this sense of 'we have the right to do whatever we want' has come from!

It's sad but I'm just not sure what can be done about, "teacup breeding" because they are just small, can tecnically occur unintentionally/ naturally. Breeding is already pretty much unregulated anyways, I doubt any laws passed would be able to have any teeth, legally. But honestly, importing puppy's from Asia is a recipe for disaster. The hygiene issues and the fact that their standards and practices surrounding food and animals over there are not in line with ours spells OUTBREAK, and all of our pets may be in danger.

Importing dogs from around the world should have stricter regulations or outright banned from certain countries where like you said their standards and practices regarding food and animals are not in line with ours...
