Someone just tried to abduct Chewie! IN broad daylight! My daughter walked her around the corner to grab a lemonade, and a woman stopped her car, got out, and tried to first talk daughter in to letting her "help" and then saying with "that" and pointed to chews. When Daughter said No, very firmly, she tried to just grab her. Not just once. My daughter had to scream. I cannot believe that just happened. On a major road. In broad daylight. |
OMG, is your daughter ok. |

What happened afterwards? Did she leave? Just gonna say, if she did that once-- she may very well attempt it again. A few years back, I was looking after a friends' dog (wire hair fox terrier) and some older lady drove past us, and then circled the block a few times while stopping to try to talk to me. Said she had a dog just like that one, but being that she was an older lady and I could easily overpower her she didn't try anything other than following me a bit and trying to get me to let her pet it. I didn't think nothing of it until I heard stories of dogs being abducted from the owners' own yards. Usually would be the less common breeds. Thankfully nothing came out of that and haven't seen her since. Hopefully both your dog and your daughter will both be fine. She was smart to scream too. |
That is horrible. What type of monster would do that?! |

But to bold as brass snatch? I mean, I'm sure they thought they saw an easy target. now I'm rethinking letting them go for that walk (this particular off property walk) They do this frequently, and Chewie really loves it. I know that my new dog walker has mace, but perhaps I could just give E (my daughter) mace, just so I don't have to put a stop to something they both really love. |
Hopefully this never happens again but if it does ask your daughter to try and get a license plate. Maybe take a quick pic with her phone. I can't say in public what I think should happen to people like that. |
How scary! I would go ahead and report it to the police. |
Oh my gosh ! What the heck??? I hope she took a pic of the license plate?!! |
Glad that your daughter is ok from this horrible experience. This woman may very well try this again with your daughter just to get Chewie. If it were me I would have your daughter continue the walks with YOU following her. If that woman tries this again, you would be not far behind, you could take the pic of the plate while still going to your daughters aid. That woman would not stick around is she saw an adult charging at her. What the heck has society come too that "women" are now trying to steal dogs right out of the hands of children. |
WOW! That IS scary!! So glad to hear that your daughter and dog are ok, minus the anxiety of going out for a walk again. Good reminder to me to stay vigilent. |
So relieved both pup and daughter are OK. Devastating! Someone tried to break my car windows once at the post office to get to my dog. Be diligent! |
Contact authorities. That woman assaulted your daughter in an effort to get Chewie. By the way, kudos (or in today's lingo, 'props') to your beautiful, brave and strong little girl. The woman presents a danger (yes, may return) to everyone. Who knows what the outcome could be if/when she tries to do this to someone else? She might even escalate her efforts. Contact authorities, as there may already be other complaints. If not, perhaps some preventative measures can be taken. Big hugs to all three of you...and please know I'm not trying to scare anyone, but I think it's important you do something and authorities can certainly appreciate your concerns, no matter what! |
