Yorkie biting My puppy is 3 mos old and won't stop biting our hands. We have tried advice online and she continues. Not sure what to do??? |
You can say no and then give her a chew toy, you can make a high pitched yelp like one of her siblings would do, you could say no and then put her down and walk away and you could always do a squirt bottle of water. Did you just get her? |
We got her when she was 9 weeks old. We have done all the chew toys and saying no or ouch sternly. She will play with toy for a few mins and than wants to bite again. |
Welcome to YT. What your baby is doing to play biting, not biting in a vicious manner. You must be consistent with the command no biting in a firm voice, not yell, scream or using a harsh tone, just a firm tone. She is just a baby, she doesn't know what soft or hard biting is. Patience and consistency are key factors in training. Everyone in your home must use the same command word, no biting. |
Thank you. Will continue with it and hope for the best. :thumbs up |

Definitely keep it up and be consistent and make sure everyone in your household does the same. I found it also useful to use a lower register when saying "NO". They generally associate high pitch voices to fun and play, versus low pitch voices to serious business. I also look at them in the eye when I say "NO". But, as a puppy, it'll take some time for them to learn the ways. Just be patient, persistent, and consistent. :) |
Thank you everyone!! |

Just experienced that this a.m. with my 15-week-old. It was in response to trying to extract something from his mouth, full-bared-teeth-ferocious-growl biting. |
