Lake Geneva is beautiful and lush and green. We've had lots of rain, lots of heat and optimal conditions for critters of all sorts. Deer come through our backyard almost nightly and can be found everywhere (we're a two minute drive from the lake and downtown)...Almost like it's an epidemic, Lyme disease posters and warnings are seen everywhere. And upon learning I recently moved here from Nevada, everyone inquires if Piper is on medicine and has she been vaccinated. YES and YES!! |

I would definitely call my vet or a 24 hour emergency vet to ask about the symptoms. I don’t think you can ever be too careful! Good luck I hope everything is okay!!! |
I am undecided about the vax but since I live in a huge tick/lyme disease area, on a wooded lot, I do the following: Treat a few pillow cases with Adams permetherin fabric treatment. The natural insecticide bonds with the fabric fibers. Then I slip her beds into the treated pillow cases. When the ticks are exposed to the permetherin they become paralyzed. This system works for us. I also treat my own pants and socks that I wear for gardening. We're the only family on the block that hasn't had a person (or pet) with lyme. |
