Traditional Yorkie colouring Please help me to understand something. I am searching for a new furchild, and have found several, but my concern is that they have white patches on them, although minimal. One has little white paws and some white around the mouth. They are being sold as Traditional Yorkies, but when I ask about the white colouring that is coming through, I am told that it's a Biewer/Biro / While gene that's being carried by one of the parents. My question then is, surely these cannot be Traditional Yorkies? Although both litters I have found are being sold by registered breeders. The one baby in particular, is the only dark baby in a litter of what are clearly Biewer Terrier puppies. I have been show both parents, and they are both silver. I really am very confused and concerned, and would appreciate your guidance. |
No help? Please - I'd appreciate any help. I don't want to make a mistake. |
Barney had a white patch on the top of his head when I got him at 11 weeks. He has a "party" line. Now at 4, he has traditional coloring. The breeder should be able to tell if your puppy will be traditional or not. |
Bubba's head was almost white when I got him. Now it's a beautiful light gold. |
My now passed girl had a little patch of white hair on her chest. |

For what it's worth, our Bella, who is 100% pure traditional Yorkie, had a small white patch on her chest that disappeared when her adult coat came in. She is now traditional silver and tan. |
It's called a "blaze" and it's very common, it usually goes away/gets swallowed up by the gold. |
