The new kitten and potty issues The problem is I don't know which one is having potty issues. Duchess has always been great about peeing on her potty pads. The only time when she doesn't pee on her pads is if I don't replace them quick enough for her. She hates peeing on a dirty potty pad I got a new kitten about 2 months ago and she definitely uses her litter box. But now I am seeing pee stains periodically at least once a week in different areas and I'm not sure who is doing it....Chloe or Duchess. Both of them normally use the potty where they are supposed to but every now and then, one of them will pee where they shouldn't. Not sure how to narrow it down. This didn't happen when it was just Duchess so I'm not sure if it is Duchess reacting to having a little sister or if it is Chloe. I've had cats my whole life and once they start using the litterbox they very rarily potty someone else unless they are ill or don't like the location of the litterbox. Any suggestion would be great Thx |
You should be able to smell the difference between cat pee and dog pee. Cat pee at least to me smells much worse then dog pee which has a sweeter odor. |
Yes, there is a HUGE diff between the smell of cat pee & dog pee. How old is this kitty & is it spayed ? if not it could be coming into heat. I would have them both checked for a UTI as it may not be behavioral. Also has this kitty been vaccinated ? if yes I hope no F.I.P as it is not very affective & can cause Chronic Cystitis. |
It must be Duchess than because there isn't a strong odor. She has a vet appointment to get her shots so I'll have them check for a UTI. Thanks Nanci |
