Pee-yew Scooter receives regular bathing and grooming but he really never smells very good. It's not his breath and the vet says he's healthy so what can I do? Does anyone use the cologne sprays? If so, any suggestions for a good one would be appreciated. |
Haven't had that issue, it we often use the Yorkie detangler/ finishing spray. They even have seasonal scents! Yorkie shampoo.com |
If the smell is really this noticeable, then you truly should see a vet as this could be systemic yeast or similar. Does he itch, any skin issues, any skin flaking or redness? Chew/lick his paws often? |
He does chew on his paws so guess it's time for another visit to the vet. |

Maybe it's his diet? How often is regular bathing? I try to do a full bathing every 3 weeks, when it's more than that they start to stink. Though, I wash their feet and bum daily after they go out for walks. Does he take daily walks? If so, is he sniffing around? Because my Scottie sniffs and marks everything during his walks outside. When we get home, I have to wash his face and 'stash because he basically is wiping all the other dogs' urine all over his face when he's sniffing. |
I'm not sure how old Scooter is because the "woman" from whom I got him didn't know. The vet thinks he's around 11 or so. His diet is boiled chicken breast and Fresh Pet Select (which receives 5 star from Dog Food Advisor). For variety I add scrambled eggs or chopped spinach or tuna. He has a good appetite and never turns down a meal. He sees the groomer once a month and I use baby wipes on his feet if he's been out in the wet grass. He doesn't go on walks all that much because he and his sis have a big fenced in yard to run and play. I think I'll take him back to the vet especially since he chews at his paws. |
