Separation anxiety Tucker is 1 1/2 years old and we have had him since he was 12 weeks. He is very clingy. He has to be on my or my husband's lap, snuggled up against one of us or very, very close by. If we pick up our shoes to put them on, he immediately starts to shake and then runs and hides under the bed or in the corner. When we come home he runs, barking and jumping like crazy. We just don't know what to do as far as helping him deal with his separation anxiety. I don't want to medicate him. Help? Advice? |
I don't have an answer for you but I just want to say I understand about separation anxiety and I feel bad for your Tucker. Surely someone will come on here who can give you advice I am not able to. My Joey gets all upset and carries on so and he is 6 years old. I hoped and prayed it would get better with time as I am only usually gone one time a week so he knows when I go I will be back but he can't be consoled. But that is just him and I only wanted to write because I understand how upsetting it is so see this. Best of luck in finding your solution for your baby. |
Oh my I have the same problem. I have tried everything that has been suggested here and in books. I think my problem is I started too late. I got her at 4 mo and she will be 3 in Aug. I even got medication from the vet. It dont work. She sees me get my purse and she starts running around and barking and stays under my feet. So the only solution I came up with is I take her with me. I have a fur lined dog carrier and take her in the stores with me, no one has stopped me yet. The grocery store I am sure would so I either leave the car running with the doors locked or the ac, depending on the weather. Or I have a neighbor sit with her. i wish you luck. |
