new here need advice I have a rescue yorkie female that has been with me for 2 years. I just added a 2nd female rescue who is in poor shape and in need of a lot of TLC. I am very worried because my 1st yorkie has become very distant with me. I am very afraid I made a mistake and have changed our bond..help!!! The new girl is very submissive, shy, and has shown zero negativity towards her. I have tried to give individual attention but she doesn't seem to want it! |
I know exactly how you feel. When we first got our 2nd yorkie, I felt horrible about how anxious, needy, clingy our Wylie became - I felt I had betrayed him. But all you need to do is be patient and give time for adjusting...everything will settle into place. Just give lots to TLC to both. |
Just give them both a little time for adjustment. Your original pup will come back around after a little while and your new girl will start to show you more of her personality as she gets used to you and realizes that this is her furever home. |

I was in your same position back in November. I thought I had made a huge mistake getting Wall-e a sister. It took about 3 weeks and everything was good again. Both of my pups love each other and worry when they can't find the other. Everyone told me it would be fine and it was, just give it time. |
thank you. I now have a lot of hope that the future will b worth it |
Yep. I also felt like I had betrayed Scottie when I brought home Casie. Scottie was very upset with me. It took Scottie maybe a month to accept the fact that she was not leaving, another month to be comfortable around and near her, and then another couple months to want to play with her. It was a very slow transition! My dreams of wanting two fur babies to cuddle and spoon each other while sleeping went flying out the door! It's been about one year now. I can't say they absolutely love each other, but they definitely enjoy each other's company and play together lots! With time, they will bond. Don't worry! :) |
