Choosing an insurance plan We're getting our two male Yorkie puppies in a few weeks and want to go ahead and set up an insurance plan. We've been comparing Healthy Paws and Turpanion, and both appear to offer decent coverage. [Neither one offers any help with wellness checks, dental care, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, vaccinations, etc., which would be nice since these are everyone's standard expenses; but that's insurance companies for ya.] Apparently Turpanion is a per condition plan, while Healthy Paws offers a flat annual deductible. We're looking for insight - what are the pro's and con's of each? Has anyone had any particularly good or bad experiences with either one? |
We have our fur babies on Healthy Paws and used it for the very first time last month... the claim process easy, convenient...fast! Customer service excellent all from the phone app mostly.... no experience with trupanion although I did look into them as well as Embrace pet insurance.... No complaints... pleasant, pain free experience! Hope this helps!!! |
I have healthy paws and have been happy with it so far. The app makes things easy and luckily we really haven't needed it but I haven't had it for a year yet. My first yorkie had 3 leg surgeries, hypothyroidism, and bad allergies so I wanted to make sure the new pup was covered if any of the issues popped up. |
Great news, chasingbella and Lovetodream88, thank you! We'll keep our eyes peeled for further input for a few days! Healthy Paws 2, Turpanion 0 |
Wait- what? Did you say THREE leg surgeries???? OMG, that must have been so horrendous! What happened? |

Oh, Lovetodream88, what a nightmare - I'm glad Callie is doing well now. It's inconceivable that these tiny little creatures can make it through such terrors. Yet they do, and they prove over and again just how "big" they truly are! |
