Weird sound Teddy and I were doing training with our Normal treats when he stopped to make an awful pig sound and laid down…any clues as to what it was? After scooping him up and rubbing his back he was fine. |
Piper used to do that when overly excited and still does it (for no apparent reason). I forget what it's called, but my understanding is it's sort of a Yorkie thing...I'd not heard the "pig sound" description, but it's very accurate and pretty funny. I don't believe it's anything to get worked-up about since it rarely happens, right? |

Glad to know you guys don't think that honking, pig noise is anything to be concerned about. My Max does it occasionally as well. Maybe once or twice a week. I was starting to worry it was beginning signs of CT:( |

Mine is a lot like that! It just seems like they can't breathe well when that is happening. |
Mine does it too. A lot of times when we are walking. It does seem like they have trouble breathing when this happens, Hope all is well. |
My little one started with this about a year ago (She's going to be 9 in May, but still acts like a 1 year old puppy!) -- it got a little bad when she caught a cold late last year. We went into the vet and just to reconfirm to both of us, she had x-rays done. Sure enough, she was diagnosed with the start of collapsing trachea. It sounds horrible, but she's really fine. It's only obvious when she gets super excited or has been running around and she looks straight up. What ends up happening is that the trachea narrows up a bit -- hence that piggy/honking sound. The vet reassured me that as long as she isn't having any problems, just to treat it as a quirk, but of course, to make note of any big changes to it. |

My Sadie used to do that..she sounded like a goose...she had a collapsing trachea....it only gets worse unless they have surgery...or it could be reverse sneezing...this is common in small breeds. Don't use a collar...use a good harness that doesn't press on their throat. |
I was concerned about it being a collapsed trachea but it seems if that was it they would have a problem swallowing? |

The first time Spice make the pig noises I was scared to death that she had a bad trachea and of course took her to the vet. Nope just one of those" Yorkie" things. This is my first yorkie and she is nothing but delight and has made my life so much happier. Such a loveable, ornery little comic LOL |
