possible allergies? upset stomach? (Florida) this has only happened a handful of times since we've brought her home at 10 weeks old (maybe 3 or 4 times), but in the morning our little Pam was acting...strange. (note: she's 9 1/2 months now) she won't be as energetic or go potty or eat and drink. what she'll do is just stand in one spot with her tail tucked between her legs and her nose high in the air. she'll look at you with them "puppy eyes" to love her up and make her feel better. i'm thinking it has to do with sinuses. because when she doesn't put her nose in the air for a second, you can hear a sort of "congestion" while breathing. just this past weekend, she was like this in the morning and fine by 2-3pm. during this time, she won't do a thing. just lay on our lap or in her bed with her nose in the air. she actually threw up once (on my leg ) and she will pee in whatever spot she is in. i just find it really odd. i thought it could be allergies. but i had her to the vet for this issue when it first occurred when she was young, but they just gave her some wet food to help with an upset stomach. they found nothing else. anyone ever experience this type of behavior? i'm not sure what to think  |
Allergies w/ some congestion is possible - but I think it's more likely she may be experiencing GERD/acid reflux, which is easily treated. GERD is very uncomfortable, so I'm not surprised she tucks her tail and acts different. GERD is usually first treated with 5mg twice a day. Some will go up to 10mg twice a day. I give it w/ the meal time. |
Both of my boys have GERD, and they will sound "hoarse" when they bark sometimes which I believe is congestion from the reflux. They take 5mg of Pepcid (which I buy on 1 800 Pet Meds) every day. They have to eat sensitive stomach food. It is very uncomfortable for them. Zeus got a bleeding ulcer from pain medication after LCP surgery, and his stomach will hurt so bad sometimes that he doesn't want to eat at all. This only makes the situation worse and he vomits foamy bile. It is pitiful. Perseus would never give up food, so we don't have that problem with him. Good luck. |
