My new senior adopted yorkie Hi, Just joined to learn more about this wonderful little creature I just adopted a week ago. He is a senior, 10 year old, whose owner died four weeks ago. Sadly, a year before that man had adopted him after his original owner died. We are trying to make him feel secure, but his bloodwork has caused concern to our vet and so our poor boy, Spencer, has has to endure a bile/acid test and just today an ultrasound because the results of the bile/acid were too high. We have a consult on January 6. Meanwhile he is active, eating everything, and being a wonderful little gentleman. Hard to believe anything is wrong with this little man. Gew |
WELCOME to YT and bless your huge hearts for taking this little man in ! I hope his health is okay. It's a very, very good sign that his appetite is intact! |
Welcome to YT and bless you for adopting this senior baby. Such a shame he has had two new owners in such a short time at this point in his life. Happy to hear he is eating and active. Hope you get positive report on the 6th. |
thinking of adopting an older yorkie and questions about neutering Hi all....I'm a newbie. I have an 8 y.o. in tact male Morkie. He's never been bred. He was the brother to an 11 y.o. German Shepherd who died back in Sept due to bone cancer. Both were in tact males. I was uncertain about neutering so I never did. The Morkie marked but now that the GSD is gone, he does not mark. There is a girl who has a 6 y.o. Golden Yorkie who is needing to rehome her male. I'm not sure of all his details yet but I do have a long list of questions for her. What are your thoughts on bringing in a Yorkie from another family and neutering my current Morkie? I dont want him to start marking again if I bring another dog into the home. Thank you! |

Hi, Well, we got all the results from all the tests on our little 10 year old we adopted three weeks ago. After another senior CBC, that led to a bile/acid test that led to an ultrasound, that led to an X-ray and pancreatic test that has now led to scheduled surgery next Tuesday. He has stones in his urethra and bladder. If anyone has had this surgery, could you please tell me what to expect? Recovery? Thanks so much. Gew |

The vet should recommend a new diet if that is what is causing his problems. Wishing him a fast healing and recovery. |
That is so lovely that you took this sweet senior. I'm glad he has you as you help him with his health issues. |
Surgery for stones If anyone can tell me what to expect after his surgery on Tuesday for the stones in his urethra and bladder, I would be very grateful. Spenser is my first Yorkie. I have had and still have rough collies. I know what to expect after surgery for them. One of mine, I currently have two but have had as many as four, had her gall bladder remover, but...... I have only had Spenser a month. Thanks. Gew |
