When is a good time to get a second Yorkie? I have a little girl, Aggie who is 3 months old right now. In the near future, I'd like to get another Yorkie as her playmate. No, it's not for breeding purpose. Aggie will be fixed in 3 months. Question is: When should I get the second one? How old should Aggie be? Also, do girls play better with boys? Or it doesn't matter? |

I WAS WONDERING THE SAME THING! Maddie is also 3 months, and i would like to get another as well but NOT TO BREED- just as a playmate- and i didnt know when to do this?? Well right now for finanacial reasons b/c f Maddie i need to wait |

We got Chanel when Chelsey was 5 months old. At first Chelsey did not like her at all and i felt guilty because i love her so much, but after 10 days she was used to having her little sister around. They are GREAT together now and can't miss each other. Its real love, first thing they do when they wake up in the a.m is kiss and love each other. Too precious  |

We waited wayyyyyyyy to long to get a 2nd one but I was going through some pretty serious health problems. We love both our Yorkies so much and they have most definitely enlightened our every day and full of laughter with little antics they do. They sure can put you in a good mood! |

I was happy I waited to have one potty trained before getting another one. My girls play well with eachother but do get a little jealous at times. I assume that would still happen if one was a boy. |

Homer was almost 1 year old befor I got Kady, I wish I would have done it sooner. He did not care for her at all. It only took them about 1 1/2 weeks to start playing... BUT Homer would only play with her if my husband and I were not looking. Now they dont care. I worried about Homer being to rough with her ( he is 6lbs and she is only 11wks and like 1-2lbs) HOWEVER, it seems I have to tell Kady to be nice more than Homer, he seems to be the one crying to mom all of the time.... :-) I believe that as long as you socialize your pup, you will be able to introduce a new dog into the house easier. Just try really hard to not overly favor the new pup too much. I let my husband ooh and ahh over Kady mostly until they started to play a little bit because Homer is a Mama's boy and gets jealous easy.... Now they both fight over who gets to sit in my lap. Usually Homer plops right on top of her til she squirms out and starts chewing on him. Be prepared to be tired!!!! |
