Is my new puppy a Yorkie? 3 Attachment(s) Hello. I recently adopted a Yorkie from a couple that could no longer take care of him. He is 8 months old. They said he was 100% Yorkie, and his papers from the pet store they purchased him from says Yorkie also. I just do not think he is full Yorkie and looks like a mix of some sort to me, kind of like a Jack Russell & Yorkie mix. His ears do not stand up and he has a long snout. What do you think? I love him regardless, he is hysterical, but I am just not sure if he really is a full Yorkie or not. Also, he has very big floppy ears that aren't really placed at the top of his head. Do you think they will ever stand up? How can I get them to stand up? |
Hi Looks like a Yorkie to me. Maybe not the best bred one but adorable none the less. So many looks to Yorkies so do not stress. Mine is well over the weight standard at almost 8 lbs. Love that 3rd picture this pup has personality plus....Lynn:animal37 |
He is full of personality! |
Looks all yorkie to me, and super cute! |
Looks all yorkie to me too. Yorkies have so many looks that it's real easy to think they mixed with something. The only way to tell for sure is to get one of those DNA test. Anyway, he is adorable and definitely looks like a yorkie to me. |

Yorkie or not? Your puppy looks gorgeous! Funnily enough we got our new little Yorkie last Sunday at long last. The previous owners can't have him any more, and I have been looking for a second one to go with Jack since I got him in June. This one is called Teddy and he is 2 1/2. Very beautiful but looks so different that we have also been saying is he a proper Yorkie? He has a longer more pointed face and is so skinny and has long silky hair. Jack is petite with very curly hair. People here with Yorkies say he is a Yorkie and that they can look very different. We need to feed Teddy up. You can feel every bone along his spine. He is a couple of inches taller and longer than Jack. Our little family is complete again with our two dogs:) Must see how to post a photo on here. X |
He looks all yorkie to me also, actually looks a lot like my boy Sage who I know is pure bred cause he is the offspring of my AKC male and female. I love my boy's looks and floppy ears, I think he is super cute, and so is yours. Glad you able to offer him a good home, enjoy him:) |
Looks York but mixed! Maybe he will grow to be more distinct looking :) |
I have to agree, he looks all yorkie to me. Floppy ears, I had two females with floppy ears. My now passed 4 girls were over standard size (5 to7 pounds) One was 9 lbs, two were 13 lbs and one was 17 pounds, due to her size she had a long snout. Because your pup has floppy ears and longer snout does not mean he is not pure yorkie. If he was bought from a "pet store" he is more then likely from a puppy mill. Love him, enjoy him and spoil him. He is just adorable. |
:love::love::love:Cute little guy. My little guy is pure bred the wife never bothered with papers. She had him fixed so there wasn't any need to. All I know for sure is, they come into your home and then they steal your heart |
looks like a yorkie - there cold be something else in there but really ... this is the most adorable little dog ever - I wouldn't worry about it ... love your little baby and I would not bother with those ears ... I was sad when Bella's ears deiced to stand up ... I loved her with those floppy puppy ears :) |
