Would you fix a sick puppy? Max has had soft stools since Thursday night. Has to go out every 1/2 hr and even with the Imodium AD hasn't helped much. I want the vet to check him over why still going on but they said they can fix him tomorrow even not feeling good. Just started eating rice/chicken but the loose stools isn't any better. He has one hiding testicle so they said he will be neutered then go thru surgery like a girl puppy. So double whammy for him tomorrow. But we open our holiday Kiosk in the mall on Thanksgiving night... hate to leave him to set it up let alone work the mall black Friday. My hubby will work the mall or can be with Max so he won't be alone for long but how sore will he be?? Would you push to wait to fix him till he's feeling better or just go for it? |
No absolutely not. Wait until he is 100% well. |
I would not put a puppy through surgery that isn't well. I would most certainly wait. BUT if he still has the runs, he needs to see a Vet for this.Imodium AD is not always a fix for the problem. AND DO NOT LET let the Vet talk you into surgery. Any Vet that is good knows this a NO, NO. |

He was obviously not feeling good on Friday...once he got rice and chicken in him on Saturday was back to himself except for the loose stools. Most of the time it's not watery stools just loose. I thought for sure they would hold off but when they said they would still do it I thought wait till Monday, see how he is then decide. I personally wouldn't go to the dr until a arm fell off 😀 So kind of easy going with my animals too. I have cats that haven't seen a vet for 15 yrs except to be fixed. One Persian has crystals and I collected the sample brought it in and told them how to treat. Her dad had same thing and I gave him fluids under the skin myself when he had it bad. But with Max going outside so much I thought after surgery he's going to want to go outside and how hard it would be on him. Plus potty training is finally so good..he's such a good boy! I'm just being a softy with him. |

I'd definitely wait until he's better. Like humans, our little Yorkies are able to recover faster from a surgery when in good health. When we or dogs are sick, our bodies are already battling something awful. The body needs to rest and recover. Just picture yourself fighting a stomach flu (or something worse), then undergo surgery, and have to recovery from whatever sickness and a big surgery. :eek: And for Yorkies, it's even more crucial they're in good health, because after all, they're only a few pounds in weight! |
