Parti Yorkie Hi everyone, I am new to the Yorkie Talk. My chocolate Yorkie has just passed at only 6 months. My family is so devastated by this... we really have no idea what happened to her. She started having what seemed like seizures and within 24 hours she couldn't walk or move. We had all of the blood work done and the liver shunt came back negative. After seeing a neurologist he really couldn't say what was wrong, but she was deteriorating fast. She did not make it to an MRI to see what it might be. The breeder and breeders vet have been wonderful, there no history of this with them or in her lines. We have been offered a parti colored Yorkie. I've read all that I can on the colors and genes in hopes of making a good choice. Can anyone shed light on what they think happened to my chocolate, if the parti has a good health record, and just general thoughts. Thank you so very much. |
I can't make any guesses about what happened to your little one, it could be so many things. I'm so sorry for your loss! I have a parti (my Pfeiffer girl) and she is the sweetest little girl ever! |
How devastating to loose a young baby, I can offer no help as to what may have caused this. Thankfully your breeder is offering you another puppy. Parti yorkies are beautiful babies. Welcome to YT, sorry it is under these circumstances (((hugs))) |
After suffering such a sudden loss, I think it's wonderful you're willing to open your hearts and experience the joy of a new little addition. |
It's really been so tough this weekend. I go back and forth on what are the next steps... thank you everyone for your support. It's hard to not feel like I did something/not did something so I guess I'm really scared it will happen again. Thank you for the kind words and the welcome. |
Please do not blame yourself, it may have been a generic issue, something you would have had no control over. I can understand you being scared something could happen again with another baby. In life we all take chances, why deny yourself and your family the love of a dog. Perhaps you need more time to heal. (((hugs))) |
