Groomer groomer groomer question As some know Max had a complete shave about 6 weeks ago. I didn't ask the groomer to do it but the opposite I said don't cut him down at all. I just made an appointment with a mobile groomer in town that comes to your house. I so badly want Max to get used to being handled for grooming and not sure if I should just wait till he needs to be groomed? I've given him baths and he gets daily brushing so he really only needs his nails done. Do you think it's a good idea to get him a bath now with a groomer or wait? I'm I pushing it too soon after his last bad experience? |
The important part of grooming FOR ME is, the pup gets use to ONE groomer handling him. If your plans are of using this mobile groomer in the future I think a gentle bath and nail clipping is a good way of introducing him to someone new. FOR ME it is important that my boy gains trust in his groomer. |
Was his last grooming experience bad for him? I realize it was for you...I don't think you need to wait if he's just getting a little bath and manicure, but trust your instincts! |
As long as you're brushing him, handling him, touching his paws, etc...I don't see any need to groom him if it's not needed... |
He's avoiding any brushing that's why I thought he might not been too happy with the groomer. Wasn't a issue before. Not sure how she trimmed his face he is so stubborn letting me brush him out. But getting better...bribing him with extra play time when he lets me take a brush to his face. That's the only area he hates to be touched. I was going to use to mobile groomer only because my girls hate the groomer with all the barking dogs and they are never kenneled but they shove them in a kennel when done. Figured it would be more of a personal experience...they even get a massage! Heck I'd like the groomer if I got that treatment. |

I only have the groomer come when I really need it. I do baths, some nail trim, teeth brushing, comb throughs in between grooms which is approximately every 6 weeks. |
I'm with Matese in that I have one groomer, that I happen to have already knew beforehand, handle her. I also want her to have a familiar face and build trust with them. I also do "touch up" grooming in between and I found that either of us will learn what the other does that makes Kimchi more comfortable and give each other tips or updates, so we'd keep things consistant. |
I wouldnt do grooming unless needed. I also stick with 1 groomer that i trust. I would juat talk to him while you brush him and reaasure him. He'll get used to it. |
