What Do You Think??????? Hello, I am to get a 8 week Yorkie this saturday and yes, i am a bit nervous. OK, OK...really nervous as this is my first pet. I am concerned about the attention this baby will need. I work full time and go to school part time 2 days a week and live alone. I have talked to a few people and they stated that i will be fine, just have to get her used to my scheduled which can take 2- 3 weeks. I was also told that i should be fine with me getting a play gate used for kids to set up in a area of my home with her to have food, water, bed, toys, litter pads as she is already trained, and a shirt or item of clothing with my scent so that she may familirize herself with it. Please advise as i want to make sure i am making the right decision> I love this yorkie and want to know that i can have her. Thanks. |
seems like you have everything under control. You are sooooo lucky I want a yorkie puppy so bad I bet you are very excited!!  |
I am very Excited....Just wanted the opinion of those experienced if i would be a good mom or not. I have people telling me of the responsibility and trying to discourage me. Just want to make sure i am making the right decision. Thanks for your feedback. |
Hi there I also belive you are on the right path, .. but the puppy will need lots of socialization with kids adults & other dog to be a good canine citizen, I would invest in a play group once all shots are up to date and the vet gives your pup a clean bill of health  also a puppy kindergarden class would be good you and puppy time :) .... sine we are both in the NY general area i can refer you to some places but we both have petco, the ASPCA, & petsmarts for starters I am in Ny myself , i have found a breeder in Nj , were are you getting you furbaby from ? is your yorkie going to be on the larger or smaller side of the totem pole ? Good Luck |
dont worry sweetie,i felt the same exact way you do..im live alone also and was concerned too, but i wanted a puppy so bad for so many months i said frig it and got one.. they do need loads of attention and believe me, my lexi gets it.. in the begining my mom took her to work, but then stopped and now lexi is home alone all day long.. my stops in for about 15 minutes each day, sometimes she dont, but thats ok.... they do get used to it... just give the puppy all you can and ask as many questions you can and your baby will be the best, you will see.. i learned so much from this site you cant imagine and my baby is the greatest... she is my life...thanks to yorkie talk, lexi is what she is today from my training and my friends here... |
Hello and Thank You for your response. I am actually getting her from a women that has to give her away due to medical reasons and the responsibilty that she has of another Yorkie and a 3 year old. She should actually not grow to be anymore than 6lbs. The classes sound like a good idea. I will definatly look into that. |
I have the same dilemma. I have a 3month old pup and I hate leaving him alone. He seems to be fine though. I have my bf with him most of the day now but it won't be like this forever. Where are these puppy play dates? I'm in NY...queens area. I would love to bring ZOe to one. |
where in queens do you live? i work at jfk/airport |
Congrats on getting your new, first pup! :happyboun I can't wait to see pics! |
I live in Brooklyn, New York. I would love to participate in a play date also. I will travel. :D |
Just give the puppy lots of love and attention when you are home. It is a big responsibility for sure, worth every minute of it, too. |
Any more Advise???? |
Congrats on getting a puppy!! |
