Bed Bugs Has anyone dealt with bedbugs and having dogs? Is there anything special I need to do for my babies? I found a bed bug this evening after constantly being bitten for the past month and not knowing what it was. Called my landlord who put me in contact with the exterminator. Hoping to get this done this weekend as I am on vacation next week but if not by Veterans Day as that is my next day off. There is a lot of prep work before hand so I do not know if I can get it all done by Saturday and work full time. I had my dog walker all set to stay over while on vacation for my babies but she no longer wants to which is understandable and she can't house them at her place. I quickly went on Rover.com and found someone not too far for me to have them at their house not ideal but I can't be picky. We have a meet and greet tomorrow evening. Only silver lining is she is significantly cheaper in price. My Vet does not do any boarding as he is a one person shop. Should I bath them beforehand? I just gave them one this weekend. They are not scratching and I do not believe they have any bedbugs on them. Ugh I am overly stressed. I live alone and no one to help because no one wants to come to my apt. and possibly get infected. All I want to do is cry right now. Part of this post is just a vent. |
OH.. Aweitz. I am SO sorry. My apartment complex- before we bought this condo- had an outbreak on the other side. The origin was two women, one raising her granddaughters, and the other one raising her child, in a very small two bedroom apartment. They didn't have much so the got used furniture. I'm positive that's where they came in, as they didn't have it the first year. It was awful and they had to throw out everything they own. I REALLY hope that there is just a few, and it's not an infestation. These things are horrendous to get rid of. My son stayed at a relief worker's home and got bitten up all over his arms from just a two night stay who had bedbugs, too. I don't know what happened beyond what I did to prevent them coming in my home. I was told to throw out every thing we brought him for the two day stay. If they aren't showing any signs, no, of course not bathe them, I mean. They don't sit on the skin, those little #$#$#@$ers sneak up and bite at night so I'm sure they're okay. |
You poor dear My daughter apt had an outbreak a few years ago it was bad. You can buy covers for you mattress and pillow you can try steam . Or tape around the bed legs on the floor sticky side up. I would bath the dogs just before they go put them in a crate and out the door to the sitters. Any toys or blankets I would wash in really hot water and hot dryer bag them and send them with the furbabys and try to enjoy your holiday. Hope all goes well |
I feel so sorry for you and I also know exactly how you feel. A couple of years ago I had this problem and was so insulted because I am a clean freak, we only found them in one corner of my couch, but I washed everything I could in hot water & dryer and got the treatment done. I washed or threw out any beds or stuffy toys, I don't think they got the doggies, but they got a bath before and after the treatment. Good Luck, it wil be over soon. |
My pops had them, they are hard to rid of. The eggs can lay dormant for up to a yr and than all of a sudden it starts all over again. We used a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol to kill them on the spot. You can spray anything and everything and it will kill any living bug. Not sure if that work for eggs. |
I really understand what you are feeling. It's really very irritating to all of us. Buy mattress cover |
