Yorkie mix new pup Hi, New here, and finding lots of interesting information. I will be picking up my puppy next week, I'm very excited. He is a product of an oops litter, mom is a Yorkie. I've had my own dogs for forty years, but he will probably be the smallest. I've just ordered everything I need for now, and I have his first vet appointment set for the day after I pick him up. He will be coming from the south, so I have ordered him a tiny sweater. Potty outside will be his first trick. He has been on grocery store kibble, and I feed raw, but I don't expect him to complain when I offer him Cornish game hen wing tips to start, I just picked those up too. But we will go slowly if he wants. My house contains a big dog, a medium sized dog, and two cats, so introductions are planned carefully. I have an expen set up for day time in my office, and a few small crates. Really looking forward to learning more about these little ones, thanks for having u. |
Congratulations and welcome to YT. Sounds like you have everything under control, enjoy you new fur baby, can't wait to see pic |
How exciting! You sound very prepared and caring, for sure! I believe you are about to experience something unlike anything else you've experienced---These little dolls have an impact like a thunderbolt and you'll fall head-over-heels like you cannot imagine! Looking forward to hearing all about your little guy and seeing pictures! |
A questio Thanks so much. I am having a hard time searching threads for a cheap, tiny harness. I plan to get a good one when he gets closer to full size. At 8 weeks he is "about" 2 pounds they say. I was hoping to order something ahead of time, though I know measurement will be the best bet. I'd rather not use a collar at first, if at all, but especially until he gets used to the leash. I'll be taking him outside of my fenced yard at first, just a better set up for carrying a puppy fast, especially in the dark. :) |
Hello and welcome to YT |
Thank you! I am not having much luck with the search engine for soft, cheap, starter, tiny harnesses. Any suggestions? Puppy is "about 2 lbs" now. If I wait to measure him we will be at least 4 days without a harness, and I feel like we will need something right away. |
Welcome to YT and congrats on your soon to be new lil baby. Some members use kitty harness on wee babies, even ferret harness, until they get big enough for a regular harness. |
Exactly the information I needed. Thanks! Just ordered 2 different types. |
You've got a little time because he'll need to have all his shots, plus another week or two after, before you can take him out and about, yes?! I read (here) that for teeninsy babies you can make 'em a sweater out of a sock--dang clever bunch on this site! |
