Barking Yorkiepoo Puppy at Night 1 Attachment(s) Hi guys, I have an 11 month old Yorkiepoo. He still barks at night when we leave him in his area in the kitchen. He absolutely hated his crate so now he has his favourite blanket and toys to sleep with at night time. Puppies always bark when you first get them but he has not grown out of it. To be fair, it's only a few barks now but he clearly doesn't like being left alone. He loves being near us so I assume it's mild seperation anxiety. He doesn't get stressed or destructive though. Just barks for a few minutes...Any ideas why or how to stop this? I have attached a photo of our handsome little boy Oreo :) Thanks |
Dog Why can't oreo sleep in your bed. Yorke just want to be near you. Put a buddy belt on him if you are afraid of accidents. These little loving dogs do not like being left alone especially at night. I hope you can help him feel secure and comfy. |
You should put a crate or play pen in your bedroom where he can see you. |

Thanks for your reply. Well the little man is very fidgety, he moves around the bed every half an hour so we don't sleep very well. Some nights he literally barks once, maybe twice, then lays down and goes to sleep. Then other nights he barks for 5 minutes and you can hear him jumping up at the door. |

Thanks for your reply. He hates his crate, screamed his head off in it, even when he was in our room. He has to lay with us so I don't think a play pen would would either. We would just keep him in our bed but he fidgets so much every half an hour so we don't get much sleep. |
Dogs in general don't like to be alone - Bella had huge fits of barking at night when she first got to us - it was heartbreaking ... but we have 3 other dogs and wanted to make sure they get along before letting them sleep together ( none of them is allowed in our bed - unlike many - i don't think dogs in bed are a great idea but this is certainly just my opninion - to each their own !) THe second night we couldn't stand the wining anymore and put her with the others and silence ever since ... No dogs likes to sleep seperate from his or her pack - you might be able to make a little area for your baby closer to where you sleep ? It doesn't have to be in bed - but close - or add a second pooch ... We asopted our second dog for our first - and it was the.best decision ever ;-) |
Dogs are pack animals & don't enjoy sleeping alone. Have you tried a bit of play time on the bed when you get into bed at night ? as I find it works well with mine. Also remember he is still very young so if you continue on the bed at his age then he should settle down very soon. |
