Seeking advice on adopting my second puppy Hope all are well I have decided to adopt .. And I'm torn between tow beautiful puppies I have a 7 months old male yorkie " Henry " and some here have mabey read my thread about his sad story .. This little guy has been through a lot .. Thank God he is recovering and regaining confidence but very slow .. Because of his situation I want to be extra carful about choosing the new puppy.. There is a 5 month old Male Pomeranian that desperately needs home .. And when I say desperately I meen adopting him will save his life ! I was told that he has a strong personality and been socialized with large rough dogs . The other is a 3 month old female yourkie that needs a home but not despretly as she is so cute and if I don't take her someone eals will.. I really want to save the Pomeranian but I'm afraid that having him will stress Henry .. He is still delicate . Members with more than on pet .. What is your experience on this issue Need to replay to shelter in 5 days All the best Dana |
No experience here, sheer instinct tells me the little Yorkie girl will be best fit for Henry--really-truly. I think it would be a more seamless addition for little H. And I think you must consider Henry first---You cannot save them all, but you've save Henry and I just wouldn't risk him for anything. My gut says the girl! |

I felt sorry for that pamoranian but again you are right .. Can't help them all 💔 Anyway we are so excited And can't wait A cute pup will join the family very soon 😀 |
You're a very compassionate, sensitive, loving person and I respect and admire your wanting to help these little critters. I just think in this situation, it's important to step back from your emotions (which are wonderful) and remember what is best for Henry and for you. I think the pom would just be too problematic and would quite possibly hurt Henry's recovery...I truly believe the little Yorkie girl will be a positive addition to both you and Henry; and your lives will be filled with fun and joy which is what all of you need and deserve. I hope you can truly believe and know that you've made the best, right choice--and simply revel in the knowledge you're giving two needy little pups the best lives imaginable! That's a huge and wonderful gift and I think you all were meant to be...! |

You are absolutely right .. I need to step back from my emotions.. the minute I herd about the Pom I got confused.. you literally described what's happening here. Henry is my priority now Will update on this thread soon Thank you again 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Dana |
With Henry making slow progress in his confidence, IMO, getting this male Pomeranian who has a "strong" personality and is use to being around large "rough" dogs has "learned" to be "rough". IMO this would not be good for Henry who is still learning to trust his new world of gentleness. IMO I believe this Pom will be to rough with Henry, and Henry will regress, what ever confidence he has now can vanish being around this little rough Pom. IMO I believe the little girl will be a better fit for your Henry, this is just my opinion. Good luck is making the right choice for Henry. |

Yes, yes, yes!! I am so excited for you! And 'Luna' is a beautiful name. Smooch Henry on the top of his cutest little, big brother noggin and another for lovely little Luna! You know, of course, pictures are a must!! |

Thank you 🙏🏻 |
congrats! I have fostered many - many - dogs and puppies and some have stuck with us ... I have learned over the years that I like a certain personality - and all my dogs need to get along well with each other- it makes for a peaceful and positive family environment. As much as I like to " save" every dog out there - some are not a good fit for us ( no matter how urgent their placement is) and sometimes I have to find them a new foster home asap! Especially dominant ones are an issue as my own dogs are on the shy and fearful side. I can deal with fear, potty issues, health problems, matted coats and I like getting fearful and shy dogs to relax - but having an overly dominant dog in our family spells disaster. I just found a wonderful home for a little dominant rascal- cute as a button but even at the tender age of 12 weeks humped everything in sight and terrified my older dogs- to the point were my older dog did not want to fetch anymore ( his favorite thing ever!) ... Bella on the other hand - who was supposed to find a home will stay because all 3 of my dogs love her - it is almost like she was made for our family. When people say they get a puppy they often expect a " blank slate" - I find that every puppy is different and they come with their own personality ... behavior can be modified but in the end certain personality traits are just genetic . |
