Top of head My girl ad been wearing bows for some time. I take them out every night. She has almost a perfect circle the size of a dime on the top of her head. It is brown. I am wondering if I have pulled some hair taking out her bows. I keep her short cut except for a few tufts to put a bow in. I see her top knot is also thinner. I didnt know if I should see a vet or if this had happened to one of you. |
It could be from the tension of having a bow in. It could also be ringworm, as dogs will often get it on top of their head - it's usually in a circle shape. So there is no hair in that spot, is that right? |
I agree with Ann that it could be tension from the bow, but if it is an almost perfectly round spot, ringworm or another skin ailment is a concern. I would have the vet take a look. Max has a very heavy topknot, although we use scrunchies most of the time, so probably not as much tension. So far, no skin discolorations. |
I made an appt for today just to make sure. Thank you for your input. I appreciate it very much. After losing my other girl last Sat I would rather be safe than sorry.♥ |

I'm glad you have a vet appointment, and I hope the news will be good. Please let us know. |
That is what it was! she lost a few hairs at a time over a period of a couple weeks and you can even see where the little brown spot is growing hair LOL I love the little bands for yorkies I bought but I apparently had them too tight. So I bought a little tiny pair of scissors to cut the bands with when and if I start making her little top knots again. That you for your condolences Maximo. My little perfect sweet rescue went to Rainbow Bridge Sat eve. We had been best friends and she was my little girl for 10 yrs and she was about a year old when she came into my life. I have been having a pretty hard time but cant ignore my little yorkie Spicey. My little terrier mix, Sugar , was almost pure white . She has been getting 2 insulin shots a day from me for 7 yrs and this past Jan developed cancer and I wouldnt put her thru the ordeal and pain of chemo etc . She was a sweet perfect baby girl right up til I sat with her at the vets and watched her cross over to the Bridge.♥♥♥ |

I am so sorry for your loss of Sugar. You are a great mom, taking care of her insulin for all of those years, and being there for her to help her cross the Rainbow Bridge. Praying for your comfort. |
