Question about grooming First of all I like to thank members for their great encouragement regarding Henry's situation in my previous post about how to help Henry ❤️🙏🏻 Now Henry never had a proper haircut before and it's about time my baby lookd sharp 😎 Since we are approaching winter.. I'll keep it as long as possible except the face My question is How to make the face look square? And not pointed I browsed all around the net looking for answers but nothing .. any ideas on how to achieve this puppy look? All the best Dana |
Try a google image search of a "westie cut on a yorkie"- it works well for a square look. |
Thx🙏🏼 Quote:
Thank you Dana |
Are you grooming yourself or looking for a picture to take to the groomer? As for keeping his coat long, I don't think that's as necessary if you prefer short coat. I keep both mine in summer/puppy cut all year. If I think it's chilly or we're going out in colder weather, I put sweater/jackets on them. :D |

I would like to do it my self but I don't have a clue .. Pictures where very helpful .. They will make it easier to explain to the groomer But if you know of any videos to enstruct about grooming plz let me know . And Thank you for the tip Henry hates brushing his hair so it will be easier to shorten it for me .. And since it's no big deal in winter then I might go ahead and shorten the body Thank you for your replay All the best Dana |

Just do a search for keywords like: yorkie grooming, puppy cut, etc.. on youtube and you'll see a lot of good videos. I believe there's also a post with instructions on how to cut here somewhere... While you're watching videos, I suggest you get your furrie familiarized with the tools like the clipper, scissor, etc.. If he's food driven, have treats handy while you're touching him with the tools and pretending to use them. Not sure what grooming tools you have but there's couple I'd like to recommend if you don't mind. Maden Brush Face/mustache comb I got both of these from http://www.toplinepet.com Mimimomo who's a member here is the owner and she VERY knowledgeable with grooming. Nails... I use a grinder b/c I'm scared I might cut their quick but when I'm feeling brave, I use the scissor type which you can also get from toplinepet. (If you haven't already, be sure to check out the First Aid Kit post. There are quite a few items on there that can save your furrie's life in case of emergency.) Sorry for the long post. I hope there were some helpful info in here somewhere. LOL |
I couldn't agree more on the Madan brush. I started using the Madan brush when I had Shih Tzu. We went from a terrible time grooming 3 Tzu to my 1 Tzu, in full coat, falling asleep during being brushed. I feel many other brushes tend to poke furkidz & I don't feel the Madan does at all. I have never had a problem with my 2 Yorkies either. I couldn't believe there was such a difference - until I saw it myself. |

I'm bathing him every 2 week now in summer .. hope it's ok It's humid here and his hair becomes oily quickly But I use wipes also they help About your waterless shampoo do you mean powder shampoo? I have one but it makes his hair very dry and hard to comb best Dana |

If you scroll down midway, there's "Quick clean waterless bath". It's foam cleansing. I LOVE IT. And if your furrie has alot of tears, I'd like to suggest the tear stain wipes. Oh oh~! and the "facial cleanser"! I have the "plum perfect". Can you tell most of my grooming stuff is from toplinepet? LOL |
