How do I make it stop!? Ok, I may have overreacted creating the thread. But my little Pammy has developed this behavior that is just annoying. She just turned 6 months. And she has noticeably been teething. We found a few of her teeth on the floor and she is chewing her toys like CRAZY. But since she started chewing a lot, she is CONSTANTLY at our feet when we walk and trying to nip at our feet. (it's not even a bite. just putting her mouth near our feet). Every step. And if we stand still, she'll get into her "pouncing" stance until we move again. She'll be leaving out little growls and small barks. She did this a short time when we first got her, but used a spray bottle and she cut the habit within a day or two. Now the spray bottle only helps for about 5 minutes. Then she's back at it again. Is it a serious behavior I should be worried about? Or is it just something she'll grow out of? Any advice would be appreciated!:animal36 |
This is normal puppy behaviour. You can expect all sorts of puppy antics up to 1 to 1.5 years! :D I would try to control this early on while it's easier when it hasn't developed into a long term habit. My suggestion would be to work on multiple daily training sessions, 5-10 minutes each, focusing on basic obedience skills: sit, stay, down, come. The clicker and some yummy treats will be heaven-sent. I did this for both of mine for an entire year. The more consistent your training, the more consistent their behaviours. As for an immediate remedy to the nipping, offer toys whenever she's at your feet etc. |
I'm sure it's a pain---literally and figuratively, but I'll bet she is just danged adorable pulling off these antics! What I'm picturing has me laughing outright! PUPPPIIEEESSSSSS---YEHAAAAHHH |
