Mats should be brushed out b4 a bath, otherwise, they shrink & form tighter when it gets wet...if he has mats over 50% of his body, it's humane to shave it off, esp if it's to the skin. Best to start over, puppy hair is a nightmare anyway (LOL)...they move, it tangles. P.S. Bath every 3 days is kind of xtreme...dries out their hair & skin. Once a week or once every 10-14 days is the norm. |
I'm so angry. I bought the brush they recommended..brushed him out last night. There wasn't mats just pin knots as the groomer told me. I stopped By yesterday to let her know what I wanted (hubbywas dropping him off) I got him all brushed out, no pin knots left except on his tummy, said ok to shave tummy. You guessed it, totally shaved. Even after telling them don't touch his face I want to grow it out, they cut it really short! Looked like a bubble butt yesterday...today a skinned rat! Wanted bare minimum done so he got used to groomer. But that didn't happen! |

As far as the hair goes, it will grow back. Buy a few sweaters and shirts and enjoy your nakie pup. Poor Barney had to be shaved a few years back because he had been in a patch of beggar lice. He has these ginormous skinny legs, so naked is not the best look for him. It grew back in time. It's now cut off in a puppy cut and I love it. |
