Chewie suddenly barking at every noise
 
She is NOT a barker. I had to teach her to growl and bark. Tonight husband is at a convention until 2am. She's barking at each and every noise outside she hears. VERY unlike her. I can't figure out if it's on high alert waiting for him, or a drastic personality change suddenly. Either way, it's bizarre.

Ahhh. I see. First google showed nothing. Second search with "suddenly" showed a lot of stuff. Okay, I got it. She DOES see me as alpha and Alpha is alone without that tall firm one around. And, it's about normal for her to do this at 10 months. She's guarding me. I see.

Little Chewie is a very busy little gal with many responsibilities and duties; such a good girl and such a busy busy busy baby!!! Very cute and sweet and she takes her job seriously, for sure!

That happens sometimes when there is change or something is different, like a person gone.

All that alpha stuff has pretty much been debunked.

I'm a fast reader. Just saw a de-bunking the alpha theory article. No wonder she stares so closely at hubby and I, and waits anxiously as long as she can if either of us are gone. Of course, she hates it when he touches me during her time, so, lol.

LOL!!! SO true! We just got her this little dog house with a sun deck so she can look outside, and she loved it.. until hubby ran the vacuum through it. Poor girl! She's circling it and sniffing around. Now one other thing to do a perimeter check

Oh for heavens sake! I swear, if she ever visited, Chewie would probably rearrange my plants and replace the bath towels! What a little goofball!

I have read the debunking theories too. But I can tell you alpha or dominant dogs are not a. Myth, and pack order exists! I am right now in the midst of alpha dog dominance. With my young female and senior male. It evidences itself in many many ways. From who goes out first to who drinks first , to who goes down the stairs with moms first .

I only interfere if I think my senior is at risk. There is always a pack order when you have multiple dogs in a home. Jmho

I'll admit; the articles I saw debunking are confusing. I..(I'm so bad!) until hubby laughed about 2 weeks ago about it, was feeding daughter at the SAME time as chewie. i shouldn't have done it, but it sure told her fast who was in charge. She makes certain to greet me first, for instance, even if her tail wag indicates she's happy to see daughter. Just little things that tell me you're right.
