HELP! My yorkie smeared poop EVERYWHERE! My yorkie is 9 years old. We got her 4 months ago. We got her from an old lady with dementia who would forget about her and not take care of her. We went and picked her up and she has been so well behaved. Never has accidents. She rarely barks. She doesn't chew on things or scratch furniture. She gets along with everyone. She is the most well behaved dog I have ever met. I work from home so she is very rarely home alone. She's been alone for a couple hours and she was totally fine. Today I was on family vacation with my family (so a new strange place to her). And I had to leave her alone for 30 minutes. And I put her in a really huge bathroom with her food, water and her bed. I took her to go potty before I left her. And when I came back she had smeared poop anywhere that she could reach. She had a poop halfway out of her butt and I walked in on her smearing it everywhere. It took forever to clean up. It was on every wall, door drawer, and covering the floor. She was completely covered in it. So I rushed to clean it all up. It was a desaster. And she needed a bath. Why is she acting like this when she's such a well behaved dog always except today? |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Your poor girl and you! I would guess that anxiety about being in an unfamiliar place, and being separated from you, triggered this problem. First the poop got stuck, and then she probably panicked and ended up making the mess. My second Yorkie, Teddy, was 8 months old when we brought him home from our breeder. He was very well trained and socialized. I think he loved his new home and family so much and feared losing both. I believe your girl loves you so much and panicked that she was losing you and her new home. 4 months is a relatively short time and she is probably not convinced yet that she is staying with you forever. Give her lots of loving and reassurance that everything is okay. :) |
You had two different things going on there - first thing was just an anxious kiddo in a new/different place who probably wanted out of that room. Second issue was she absolutely had to go poo - went - some got smeared on her paws from walking around and therefore got smeared all over when she was hopping about trying to find a way out of that room and back to you. Just something unfortunate that can happen when animals are locked away. |
One time deal?.... her turd likely got stuck in her hair and she was likely just trying to get it unstuck.... I'd be frantic too if it was stuck to my butt! :) Ensure the anal area is kept clean.... might be she needs a sanitary trim back there to remove hair that poop will get stuck in. :) |
Welcome to YT Lol you're on your own with this one :) |
It was probably stuck. Is she getting enough Water? Sometimes if a dog eats string, or needs a stool softener, they will drag their bottoms. |
