Yeah that's what I've started doing but the big one eats so fast he finishes first and the smaller one won't continue then lol

The breeder actually told me that's what she used to with him and his sister and he would still go eat out of his siater's side with her lol. But I guess that was a long time ago and maybe it's worth a shot to try again :)

The girl I had lay down when the walking route was changed weighed 13 lbs and I had a pack of three, her and her 2 sisters. Talk about looking ridiculous lol, I would pick her up carry her to the new route put her down and she would walk the rest of the way home. These yorkies are STRONG WILLED. I know it's hard to not see them eat and cave in, been there more times then I care to remember. But it is up to US to be STRONG and not cave in. He WILL eat when he is hungry enough, yorkies are great at testing us.

Ok, might be a bit extreme, but with Yorkies...What if you put food down for little one and then dole out food for the other? I mean, they're both eating at the same time, but you're determining how much and how quickly your "big" guy is eating, so they can finish at the same time. Does that make sense?

I actually tried this tonight! I had to dole it out for both of them with the same dish in my lap lol but at least I'm able to monitor who eats what this way lol. I don't really want this to be a permanent solution though because I don't want to create a habit where they will only be hand fed and won't eat out of a bowl lol. But this is literally the only way I can keep it separate for now.

Oh, indeed, one hopes this is only temporary, for sure. And would if you put out (on plate) all of the food for the little guy and then only parcel out food for our Mighty Mite, by dropping bit by bit on his plate, yes, no, maybe? I'm glad you experienced some success, you determined little cookie, you!

I think they think it's a game or something lol. They won't eat it if I drop it onto two separate plates or if I just hand them one each. I literally have to TOSS them one each and they run and eat it. I try to take my time tossing the bigger ones so they finish at the same time. I'm also breaking his pieces in half so he's eating a half to every one that my other one is eating. Lol so crazy! Thanks for all the advice everyone!

Your pets are cute. My Yorkie is in the process of losing a weight too. I now give him enough food that won't cause him to gain weight. He was born loving to eat. His matabolism slowed down, and I had to adjust. I love him, and I can't allow him to keep his bowling pin shape. I would feed them out of their own bowls. Dogs won't let themselves starve. I had to stop free feeding my Shih Tzu, because my Yorkie would move over and eat her food too.

I want to add that I keep the feeding schedule structured to help me monitor them. They have a short time to eat the dog food to stop my Shih Tzu for waiting for tastier food that she will not get anymore. I have stopped giving my dogs treats and human food for their health. I make sure not to let my Shih Tzu get full on dog food until she has a habit of eating every day. She tries to manipulate me by not eating her dog food. LOL The vet recommended I feed her this way to encourage her not to be a finicky eater. Maybe some of these strategies will work for you. It has helped my dogs.
