Hello everyone! 1 Attachment(s) Hello everyone. My name is Rik and I am new to the forum. My story is a bit different as I am on here to try to ease my sadness. I lost my little buddy, Rascal, about a month ago. I still find myself thinking about him all the time and to put it bluntly, I am heart broken that he is gone. He was the one constant in my life. The past several years he was able to always make me smile and ease some of the pain I had with personal and health issues. I am hoping to get a new yorkie in my life, but I have guilt thinking that in some small way it's a selfish way to ease my pain. I miss him terribly and that will never change no matter if a new little one comes into my life. I just wanted to say 'hi' and let each of you know that your posts provide me comfort each night as I read them :) |
So very sorry for your loss. Rascal is adorable. Everyone grieves differently, some ppl need more time , some ppl need to fill that void in their heart. Don't feel guilty by thinking of getting another baby to nourish and love. You took the best care of little Rascal, loved him unconditionally and was your best friend. No dog can EVER REPLACE a lost one, each has their on personality. Rascal will stay in your heart and thoughts forever. Don't deny yourself the love of another baby. My girl left me at 17 years old, I swore no more dogs, losing them never gets easier. 6 weeks after she passed my vet took in a rescue, a little 2.5 yo boy. She pleaded with me to "just come to see the dog". I had no plans of ever getting another dog, to appease my vet because she thought of me when she got this little guy I went to "just see the dog" and ended up taking him home. He helped ease the pain my losing my girl, he filled that empty hole in my heart, he made my house a home again, and took me from a very dark place. He rescued me. I never felt guilty, I loved my girl with all my heart, I gave her the BEST life I could, just as you did with Rascal. If you feel you want another baby.....go for it and never feel guilty. (((hugs))) |
So sorry for your lose! We never seem to have them long enough. No other pup will replace him but some other pup will need your love and adore you when the time is right. |
I am so very sorry for your loss. It's so heartbreaking to lose these precious loving ones from our lives :(. They are just so special. Please be gentle on yourself and if it's time to find a new little one to fill your heart, do it. There is no wrong time to do this. And don't worry that you are trying to replace him - you aren't. He will always have his unique place in your life and in your heart...no replacing that, ever. |
Hello welcome to the forum. |
Sorry for your loss.. but welcome back!! |
Hello and welcome to YT Sorry for your loss :( |
You will always love and miss the uniqueness of your Rascal; I believe loving him as you did will help you find a new little love. Loving another little partner is a way to celebrate anew the joy and love of Rascal and is truly a tribute to Rascal and all he meant to you. Not the least hard thing to bear when they go from us, these quiet friends, is that they carry away with them so many years of our own lives. -- John Galsworthy "You can't replace one dog with another any more than you can replace one person with another, but that's not to say you shouldn't get more dogs and people in your life." |
New to YT Good afternoon. I'm new to this forum and finding the right way to post or reply is a bit of a challenge for me at this time. I hope I am responding to Rik's post re the loss of Rascal. I am very sorry to hear of your recent loss. I hope you can find peace in knowing that Rascal was so well loved by you. Take care of yourself.. |
Every pup we ever have give us their hearts while they are with us and take a little piece of ours when they go. Welcome to YT. So sorry for your loss. |
Welcome to YT :) So very sorry for your loss! As many others suggested, don't be too hard on yourself. Give yourself as much time as you need, cry when you need to and as hard as you want to, think of him whenever you want to, or get another dog as soon as you're comfortable; but don't feel guilty for any of it. He'll always be apart of you and knows you loved him very very much! *hugs* |
