Is Bobbie a crossbreed? 3 Attachment(s) Hi all new here, me and my partner adopted Bobbie 2 nights ago our first dog, he's settling in well doesn't like to play at all loves walkies and loves petting time especially on his belly with his legs up in the air haha! Love his little face when he's getting his belly rubbed he stick's his tounge out... Only barks when it wants a pet says 'Hey pet me!' Lol We adopted him off my partners cousin who saved him going in to a dog shelter and has been looking for someone to take him as the dog she already didn't get along, she got him off an old lady who couldn't look after him anymore... My cousin said it's a Yorkshire Terrier and he's 7 year old and that's all we have to go on... I'll add a couple of pics. From the pics can you decide on if he's a crossbreed? And does he look 7 or younger/older? All in all we love him and we have bonded with him really quickly... Hoping he becomes more playful and comes out his shell as he settles as he's a very quiet dog atm. Trev |
Hi and welcome. Yep - looks totally purebred to me - and CUTE! |
He's adorable......he reminds me of a silky terrier. Silkies have longer muzzles and have a rectangular body whereas Yorkies have a shorter muzzle and have a square shaped body..... My rescue Brandi was probably a silky too. I adopted her at 7 yrs old and just watched her transform from from a scared submissive little doggy to a diva. It's so fun watching their personalities come out......enjoy your cute bundle of joy. |
Hi, Trev, I agree, he looks like a full yorkie. He is too cute! That third pic is just the sweetest! Congratulations on your new baby. Looks like he landed in the exact place he was meant to be. Stick around. I would love to see more pics of him and hear all about how he is settling in. Bless you for being his Angel! |
holy cute |
I have to agree, yep, looks pure yorkie to me. Keep in mind you are his 3rd family and his first owner being elderly most likely didn't play with him, so he doesn't know how to play. Give him time to adjust to you and your partner, time for him to know he has found his forever home, time to gain trust in you and to bond with you. Lots of patience, TLC, and nice walks will help. You can try rolling a ball, but, not all dogs are into balls. My boy is a rescue and didn't know how to play, had no interest in balls, now after 2.5 years as a team lol he is NOT the dog I rescued. Bless you for bring this lil guy into your family. He's adorable. |
Thanks for the advice/knowledge and the warm welcome. Tired Bobbie out today with the walking I think, he's flat out asleep next to me... I'll throw a pic up he sleeps with his tounge out and snoring it's so cute lol. He seems be settling down and I even got him interested in his squeaky toy for 5 mins.... But I find he barks like mad when going out even if we are taking him or when he wants picked up... Guessing that's a Yorkie trait? Also he seems to be sleeping a lot guess that's because he's getting extra exercise he's not used to. Still learning my self as he's my first dog. Trev. |
1 Attachment(s) Sorry forgot to add the pic he looks so tired haha! |
probably more of the silky here but he is toooo cute. |
Looks yorkie to me, a silky. I have one also. Longer muzzle and a longer body. Cute as ever! |
Yes that's look is totally a pure breed for me. |
lol, he is zapped out, too cute. Him coming from elderly owner I am sure he got very little exercise and he is an older boy, so I wouldn't make his walks too long it could give him sore muscles. Example, start him off on say a 2 block walk for a week, then increase to 3 blocks for a week and so on. He has to build up his muscles, you will know how long of a distance he can walk as you gradually increase his walks. Walking is a great bonding tool. |
Look like a yorkie to me. Have you taken him to the vet yet? Sometimes they can tell just about how old and they can also scan to make sure there is a microchip. |
he is very very handsome!!! He could be silky, it really is hard for me to tell the difference -- whatever he is cute and I am happy you have him safe and sound |
He looks Yorkie to my very untrained eye. You should take him to the vet right away to make sure he's vaccinated, neutered, et al. Also, your vet will be able to give you a very good idea as to his age. It may take your guy awhile to 'loosen' up and play---or he may not be the "play" type. Each Yorkie is unique and Yorkies are very, very different from other canine breeds. He'll show you who he is in time and you will find him to be perfect no matter what! Congratulations and good job in giving this very handsome little guy a wonderful, safe, and loving home! |
