Ginger 2+ years I trained her as a service dog, she knows how to cook, messenger, hearing, lost items finder, even pets me if I've been good. When I get up in morning, have my coffee, when I finish my coffee she finds Liz to tell her she can start breakfast. She then tells her when the water is boiling for Oatmeal or when to turn the sausage. Then after Liz adds the oat meal, Ginger tells her when its cooked, next she tells me eggs are on or Oatmeal is in the bowl. The one that really gets people is when she pets me for being good. If I'm laying down or sitting on the floor she'll come up and gently pet my cheek softly, only the pads, never a nail touches my face. Its not a dragging motion, a very gentile touch and pet, lol. Guess what her training treats are, she's a bigger Yorkie, 8 lbs, After a year I took her off the Royal Cannin and fed her Solid Gold, Fit and Fabulous. We also use the kibbles for training treats. Every time she pees or poos (PiddlePlace) she tells us and gets a kibble as "Pee Pay". In the morning after finishing her breakfast she get a F & S Peppermint Dental Cookie, after supper a F & S Greenie. We pay her with her food kibbles for all tricks or work performed. She refuses to go to bed until her teeth are brushed. |
Aww, what a precious kiddo! SO SMART! You should post a video of her petting your cheek. |
Wow a dog that cooks. I need to train my two to do that. LOL |
One of these days we will get her on video, need to have cam ready as we've tried it but she responds to either of us moving and stops. The cooking is easy to train and valuable as we get older and forgetful, no burnt food. Say boiling water, when you smell or notice water is boiling, alert and send dog, treat when she complies. Once that is locked in, have cook ignore, resend till cook responds, treat. Next, don't send, if dog responds treat, if not point it out and treat after she responds. Dogs have great noses, so you can do this with just about anything. We hide Gingers after meal treats, she is a great tracker, she actually tracks our scent to the treat. We sometimes throw the treat a few feet to confuse her, she will follow to end of scent on all trails a few times. Once she realizes its not at end of scent trails, she starts a search pattern. Its a blast to watch her thinking, yes I said thinking, she figures out all kinds of tricks we set for her, Dogs are as smart as your expectations/demands. We expect Ginger to do certain things, she gets a kick out of doing her job. |
WOW thats so cool, it's truly amazing how smart they are. |
Very intelligent doggy! Do you have a sample video of your doggy? |
Wow the helping to cook is IMPRESSIVE! lol |
What I'm most amazed at is that she won't go to bed until her teeth are brushed! Just kidding--it's all amazing! |
