behavior change My Yorkie has become very restless and discontent. She will lay on the floor then get up, sigh, walk around the room, plop back down. Kind of like a kid stuck inside the house on a rainy day. I've been noticing this in the evening. But i work from home sometimes and she was like this all day. She seems so sad. there are no other symptoms. No balance issues or anything. She stays at my parents a lot bc i do some overnight travel for work. I am wondering if this is bothering her. But why now suddenly after 3 years? |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Is she panting or showing any other discomfort? Watery eyes? Is she pooping normally? My boys have exhibited restlessness when they had tummy issues. They couldn't lie down in one spot very long. |
Go to the behaviour specialist and ask him about this changes they know what to do about it. |
I agree w/ Maximo...assess any possibility of tummy pain / discomfort. Did you change food or anything? Is her appetite normal? Does she seem hot? |
her breathing was weird yesterday. she was taking short quick breaths while at rest. But then it was back to normal. She is eating regularly so i would be surprised if it was tummy issues. I am taking her to the vet in a little while. tks! |
no change in food. |
Keep us posted - hope the vet turns out okay; glad you're getting her checked out and being cautious bc dogs mask so much of their pain. |
Best Feeling in the World I love coming home after work to my babies. We have a routine that I let them out of the kitchen and immediately they race to the bed where we cuddle and they give me kisses. They are so happy to see me its contagious. Even after a hard day their smiles and wagging tails bring me so much joy. They just want to cuddle for a good 10 minutes and then I give them dinner before taking them out for a walk. September will be a year with them and I cant believe how the time has flown by. |
If it's not anything health-related via the vet, does she get enough exercise? Like nice walks in the park? Someone to play with her fetch or other games? Could she actually be bored? |
Once you have ruled out a possible medical issue I would say maybe some stimulating games while you are gone could be helpful. Treat puzzles are fun or hiding treats or special toys around the house. Leaving on relaxing music can help ease the time away too. Little Kong toys can be a great option too, doggy daycare or a dog walker can be nice even if it is only available once or twice a week to break the monotony. |

My boys will keep eating even when they have tummy issues. If your girl is a good eater normally, just keep that in mind that upset stomach, gas or some other problem may not lead to a lack of appetite. |
