Poor Chewie!!! My poor little gal is both confident AND skittish. It really depends. She'll bark at the nasty hose beast, but scream at going in the kitchen. Today hubby decided to vacuum, and it didn't go well. She hates being picked up in the middle of the day- too busy being nosy. Today she allowed me to not only pick her up, she hugged my neck the whole time. I found her under the bed frightened out of her mind. She took two hours to get back to normal. I really need input. The resource guarding worked, and worked well. She's doing well with frequent exposure to the car wash, and was just fine with the 4th. I don't know WHAT to do about this. She's heard it before. I'd hate to see her do this every single time. |
How old is she? |
Poor dog! Hope you figure it out how she act like that, why don't you try to ask this to behaviour specialist. They can help you with this situation. |
I'm not sure what you can do except maybe lock her in a separate room and turn on the TV or something...? Some dogs are just so sensitive to the vacuum. :( |

Any way, this is a recent problem. Myra will be here Tuesday and I"ll bring that up along with the laundry list. :/ |

You could try some calming sprays or balms (which you rub on head and ears), but they may only help in a minor way...it really depends. |
Mine was also terrified of the vacuum and our crazy loud blender. The blender was so bad, he'd start crying if he even saw me start putting fruit in it cause he knew the noise was coming. So, whenever I used either appliance, I had my hubby hold Max the whole time. He was still scared, but not as freaked out as he would have been on his own. Now, he is used to the noise of both and really doesn't care. |
I try to show them gently things aren't a big deal rather then avoidance right away and it works for my guys, but I guess if she is hypersensitive to things, you might have to avoid? |
