Pink or the black one?) - Bed/pillow (have some that my cat never used) - Blankies (bought thick blanket already from the baby section) - Potty pads - Food (will purchase when I have my baby, RC or Orijen?) :happyboun - Food/water bowl - Treat and snacks (prefer home cook food / orijen snacks) - Chew toys / soft toys (I saw a sale at mylittlepony :D ) - Harness and leash (bought two already) - Outfits (I couldn't resist a sweater and pj's lol ) - Insurrance (will ask the vet about this when the time comes) I also saw a puppy ren (pink or blue) but undecided. A dog carrier is also very practical but not on the list as I can get this later on even if I do have my baby already. Did I miss anything for my preparation? :aimeeyork:wavey: :thumbs up |

Don't forget the numbers and addresses to the off hours emergency vet.....I keep the info in my cell phone and on my refrigerator. Hope for the best but always be prepared for the worst....... |
Thank you weylie's mom : The thread is amazing and I printed it out! Some of the product brand mentioned are not available where I live. But can find very similar products that are basically the same. e.g. Yorkie splash and shine is a no available... I found Pet Head line so I'll use their products. Tropiclean oral puppy for oral care (Thank God this is available in my country hooray) As for paw wipes, I'll use baby wipes. There are many dog wipes for paws, face etc available but I don't feel baby wipes for sensitive skin are harmful for dogs. I hope I don't get yelled at on this lol My food battle is : Royal canin Yorkshire terrier JR Orijen puppy Eukanuba puppy/junior. I'm paranoid cause I used to buy everything for my cat Lily (the entire cat aisle was suddenly in the house lol) and she just cringed at everything. She was on TheHills, RC or any 'premium' food I heard was best. I bought too much and still have one giant bag waiting to finish. The situation is now: Lily eats her Sheba or Felix - gag! (other brands she does NOT eat and rather starve) and the strays get The Royal Canin for beautiful skin and fur lol Her beds and cushions are new - hated the sight of it and wants to sit in shoe boxes instead (she is small cause when I found her, the vet and I contacted the people and she was abused/underfed about 7 years ago - now she is kinda "fluffy" lol) I think I am blessed having so MANY vets and all sort of doctors within 5 mins walk distance where my bf and I live. There is a vet office when I look out the window but I'm shy to go and ask so early in advance questions without a puppy yet :D My vet for Lily is on my speed dial (office and cell phone). :D I trust her and am skeptical going to any other vet. Didn't break the news yet planning on my yorkie. |
I use Royal Canin and my dogs like it. My breeder had started them on it though so that probably helped. My vet says it's a good brand to use. I forgot the first brand I used with my first yorkie who now passed but I switched him to Royal canin when I first heard of it. He really didn't like any dog food (lol it was a battle of wills as he always wanted table food) but he did seem to like Royal canin. I was giving him Royal canin Yorkie. I give my two that I have now Royal canin small dog (I think that's what it's called. The puppy version is tiny puppy) because one of my two doesn't like the Yorkie version. :/ |
Yes you are right. My vet told me that RC is good. My bf suggested to me to buy a small bag first. I was thinking getting small bags of the three brands mentioned above for a taste of each but I don't think this is a good idea if this upsets their sensitive tummy :D |
Orijen is all the way! Incredibly good ingredients and you get what you pay for - no fillers & no grains. |
Orijen has also treats called frozen dry treats (whatever this means) Decisions..decisions... :D |
Orijen has freeze-dried meal patties. And they also have treats. I would stick with the regular kibble or freeze-dried meals first. Or do the kibble and use freeze-dried patties as treats. The treats are a little too rich for puppies and they're almost bound to get upset stomach from those! |
You need a first aid kit. T here is a stickie on here somewhere. You d o need a travel carrier for your dog! That is important. All you need to be is once in an accident and then you know. Here in North America we can insure pups at eight weeks old. Now don't worry about frilly clothes. Get a decent cold weather jacket and a rain jacket. Start there. I bought my Yorkies a 90 bed that he refuses to lay in! Instead he lays on my feet or lap. Or whatever blanket I have around. |
First aid kit? I don't think I need a carrier right away as a puppy can't even go out until they have their shots etc? Are you speaking of a crate for the car or those bag carriers? I will get my puppy at the end of the year so have a good 4 months to collect all you all post :D |

I have a cat crate so that will do. As for carrier I meant the bag, like that you carry around like a purse. I have to look into the first aid kit. You mean like ointment for wounds etc? |
