Rain, thunder and lighting How do you manage outside potty time when it's raining buckets and it's thundering and lighnting? Not too crazy about going out myself and Gidget needs to go.:confused: |
Gidget wears her raincoat and you use the umbrella. When I had my pack of three they were on a schedule, rain, hail, sleet or snow out we went, they in their raincoat, me with the umbrella. :) |
Where did you buy the raincoats? |
You can try PetCo, Pet Smart, Pet Supplies or google canine rain coats. I got my boy one in Pet Supplies. |

Have you tried pee pads that is what i use not about to go out in bad weather :) i keep one in one of my bathrooms for them makes it easier for all of us |
Haha...I totally understand. I just suck it up. I prefer going outside than for them to poop at home. It was a decision I made in the very beginning and I stuck with it. We get a lot of rain in Vancouver - basically for the entire fall/winter season, which is 5-6 months. I don't think I've had to go out during thunder and lightning though, so far. Luckily! We do the same, I have umbrella for myself and they have raincoats. My fiance is sweeter than me, he covers them with the umbrella and he wears the raincoat :D From what I've seen while I was shopping around, this Canadian Pooch raincoat is the best! It's made with really nice waterproof material - it feels soft and makes me wish they made one for humans too! It's helpful with the hood too, to cover their head! 1 Attachment(s) I bought a large outdoor (sort of beach) umbrella and 'planted' it out-of-the-way in backyard. I kept it up all year round and it provided a dry area for Piper to use during inclement weather--which she did, quite readily. However, the umbrella fell victim to a severe windstorm. Thankfully, it was around this time that I convinced Piper she wasn't sugar and she needn't worry about melting when out in the rain! 'Course, Nevada isn't exactly known for having long spells of wet weather! |
Canana, does the hood stay 'up' and cover their little noggins? Cuz I think getting her head and ears wet are what bother Piper. Thanks! |
Need covered concrete area outside back door I haven't moved recently but whenever I do I make sure there is a covered patio outside my back door that can be used for outside potty visits in inclement weather, fenced-in, of course. |

Is noggins the bum? Think that'd depend how long the body is... :p |
Canana -- Well, as I said, rain isn't a big issue in Nevada...! Thank you for information and "noggin(s)" is one of many slang terms for head (the hood will, in fact, cover Piper's little noggin/head), but your interpretation is cute as can be...! |

If anyone is looking for a great raincoat that keeps their heads dry you might want to try the brand Push Pushi. The hood is hard so it doesn't sit directly on their heads, it basically goes up over their head like a tiny umbrella. It had snaps so you can take it off the coat of its not raining. It's clear so they can see through it too. I really like it. I also recommend the pad training as a back up. Mine know how to both use the pad and go outside. |
As much as she hates it, we go outside. She will try to run back in but I don't let her, I've got an umbrella and she just gets wet. |
