Nextdaypets.com Has anyone ever had a Yorkie shipped that they found on next day pets? I got my two from a local breeder but she doesn't have any litters right now and I want a third. I saw one on next day pets that I REALLY like but I'm afraid of sending the money and never getting the dog. The breeder I spoke to on there didn't really ask any questions about me which I think is kind of weird. She says she accepts bank wire transfers but would consider PayPal. She only has one puppy listed. She has no website and says she doesn't breed often so that's why she doesn't have a website. She did send me a couple of additional pictures and pictures of the parents at my request. She doesn't really seem pushy or too eager/desperate. I saw next day pets says all identifications are verified. Have you heard of many scams with this site? |
I would look elsewhere. If you cannot find anything on the internet to verify that the breeder is legitimate, and you cannot visit her home, you are taking a big gamble. I found lots of complaints about Nextdaypets using Google. Although I found my breeder through Petfinder.com or a similar site -- my memory is a bit foggy, I was able to verify all kinds of information about the breeder from multiple independent sources on the internet. I verified that she exhibited and championed my puppy's sire. Reassuring things like that. I also visited her home to pick up my puppy. |
Thanks, I looked her up on puppyfind and found the same listing that was on NextDayPets was taken down so that made me feel like something wasn't right. I also couldn't find any information on her online (other than 'Tiny Trinkets' listed as her ?program name? on puppyfind. I asked her for a vet reference and she gave me the name of her vet's office and also a reference of someone that has purchased from her so I might just call them tomorrow just to see but I'm still not feeling 100 percent confident given the same post was taken down on puppyfind. |
A vet reference wouldn't mean that much to me because there are a lot of bad vets out there. There is a puppy store in my town that has vet references for their puppy mill pups. :( A reference from another person who supposedly has purchased from her -- how would you know that the person isn't a relative or someone else who would say anything? I definitely would not purchase a puppy that is going to be shipped without tons of really good evidence verifying that the breeder is legit and has high standards. I also think small puppies should be transported in the cabin of the plane with a human escort -- especially in this hot weather. |
Yeah I didn't really care much for the reference from someone who purchased from her. I thought the vet reference would at least confirm she exists and is a breeder. Do you think there would still be a way to scam with a vet reference? Like if she didn't actually have a dog to sell, a vet would back her up? And a vet would actually lie to protect a puppy mill? Yeah she said the puppy would come with someone in the cabin, not in cargo. I would never want a yorkie, let alone a puppy in cargo. They are way too small. |
Yes, there are a lot of bad vets out there who will say a puppy mill dog is healthy and ready to ship. I had someone recommend a vet here to me because the vet was cheap. After researching, I found the vet had been fined by the state and was at risk for losing her license for bad practices. Not someone I would trust with my dog. You likely will get a puppy if you bought from this breeder, but will it be the one in the photo? Will it be healthy? What kind of health guarantee does she offer? Very risky. Follow your instincts, avoid heartbreak, and keep researching. |
Wow that's crazy! She said it is a 2 year health guarantee but I definitely don't want a puppy mill puppy and with what you've told me it seems you're right and there is no way to verify. I think I'll look elsewhere. I really appreciate your help! |
I was able to find some info on her when she replied to an email with her husbands email and I saw her real last name. Maximo, you saved me from making a huge mistake. THANK YOU. |
I know one shouldn't judge a book by its cover but the name of the site "nextdaypets" itself is a big red flag to me... I'm glad you were able to save yourself any grief that might have come along if you bought a pup from her. |
Thank God you didn't buy from that site. From what you've described, it sounds like red flags in every direction! Don't be in a rush to find your third. Take your time to find a really really good breeder. It's SO worth your time. :) |
Yeah I think I've realized it's better to just take my time :) I was worried that if my dogs get too much older they wouldn't like a new puppy but they're both still only 1 haha :) |
