new yorkie mom 2 Attachment(s) hello everyone i just recently became a yorkie mommy:) picked up my little boy this last weekend and he is such a doll, he is almost 9 weeks and we are so in love, i was able to see his mom in person she is so beautiful with blue silver hair but wasn't able to see the dad, i was told that all are full breed but because I'm new id like some reassurance, either way my tate has my heart i have some pictures of mom and my baby boy, feel free to give me your thoughts, also one more thing his face seems different then most yorkies is that normal? |
Also I've been reading on this forum and have run across some information, and now I'm feeling a little bad, did I get my puppy to young at 8 weeks and 5 days?? He's such a good boy he is crate trained and potty trained, he has only had one accident on the floor. I just really hope I didn't get him to young. Anyways I'm looking forward to meeting all of you :) |
He's a handsome little fellow but yes, you got him a bit too early. 8-12 week is when he develop social skill. Usually in-experience or profit breeder only let go of their litter that early. I hope you got a good health contract too. Your breeder should have gave you his shot record also. I would take him to the Vet and have him health check also. |
Thank you, and to be honest I don't think the people I got him from are professionals like I've been reading about on this forum, so now that I know I got him to young is there any advice that I could get about how to work with him? Also does he look pure breed? |
He's truly a yorkie no doubt he's cute:) Hope you do what the other say, go to your vet for his health check up, as you said to ensure about his health condition. |
Yes, he's looks pure bred. Did you buy him with AKC or UKC registration? CKC or other registration are not reputable. Truthful, the only way to really know is DNA testing. Don't get discourage if he doesn't have paper or does not meet standard. I believe you have already love him. :) Like I said above, just take him to the Vet and make sure he's healthy so you won't have a lot of heart ache later. As for your second part of the question on how to work with him. Please be more specific like behavior/food/care/sickness/etc... I would start it on another topic so more experience Yorkietalk member can hone in on it to help. |
I'm glad that someone as caring, concerned and loving as yourself got this little guy, because being that he is pretty young, it'd be easy to harm him via feeding, expectations, etc. From what I understand, according to wise and experienced members on YT, you will have to teach your baby things that his mama and siblings would have taught him (10-12 weeks). So just read up on topics like training and nutrition; get him to a vet right away; remember that he is just a baby-baby so be patient and understanding (which I'm sure you are). You may have your work cut out for you with your new little love, but you already know...nothing is too much when it comes to these guys! Keep having fun!!! Oh, he looks Yorkie to my untrained eye and his little countenance is unusual (that's cool) and totally lovable!! |
Don't feel bad. We got our little girl a bit young too. I've become much more informed after finding this board. I don't post much, but read a lot. She is thriving. She's 6 months old now and is doing fantastic. |
